TWO months after giving birth to her third child, Basetsana Kumalo is a besotted mother - calling her newest addition "a lady".

In an interview with Sowetan in the middle of her maternity leave, the TV mogul could not contain her joy at finally having a daughter. She and her husband Romeo have two sons, Nkosinathi and Kgosi.

Her daughter is named Bontle and Kumalo said she blessed her soul. "It is the most delightful experience. For me girls have a different energy. She's gentle and has a beautiful temperament. She doesn't cry, she just eats and sleeps, she's a lady.

"And she poses when she sleeps and I go 'that's mommy's girl'. I'm glad I have somebody I can put ribbons on and buy everything in pink for after having to buy blue for my two boys."

Kumalo said even her husband had remarked about her excitement over the new baby. "I'm besotted with her and my Romeo remarked that he has never seen me like that, even with the boys. I kiss her a hundred times and I take photos of her every time I wash and dress her."

She did however admit that Romeo's gene was stronger as the children look like their father.

Kumalo gave birth to Bontle a few months after turning 40. "Having Bontle was the best 40th birthday any woman could ever have."

She had planned to celebrate her 40th in March with a party and flying to Las Vegas with friends in April before finding out she was pregnant.

"There's still a lifetime to celebrate one's birthday. So I will do my 40-plus one next year. We'll still do Vegas because I like to breastfeed my children for a year so I'm breastfeeding full time."

She is thankful for the blessings in her life. "Where I am right now as a 40-year-old mother of three I stand in awe of God's grace and mercy. I got this far by God's grace, hard work and determination."
