A traditional leader accused of rape, sexual assault and illegal possession of pornography appeared in the Thokoza Magistrate's Court on Monday, Gauteng police said.
The matter was postponed to later this month.
He would remain in police custody, Captain Augustinah Selepe said.
The 44-year-old allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman on Saturday during a healing ceremony. Afterwards, the woman laid a charge of rape at a police station.
During investigations one of his trainees, aged 30, told police she was sexually violated by him.
"The police confiscated pornography material which was allegedly used during the commission of crime," Selepe said.
Selepe said police were looking at adding more charges based on their investigations.
