Why should we name our streets after Chinese leaders? This is not on. You won't find our names in China.

Of course it is not on but as we see on a regular basis, the anc treat the S.A'n population with total disrespect and arrogance daily. Mao Tse Tung has all the 'credentials' that they idolize in a dictator..........

'since when' I was white? I was born white, you nutcase! Of course I know that Mandela has streets all over. I just can't figure out why you think Mandela was a mass murdering, drug dealing despotic dictator like Chairman Mao!

Mao is far bigger than Mandela MommC far far ahead

Aug 29, 2014 8:47 | 2 replies

Yip. Next street should be named after the Khmer Rouge, Genghis Kan or Hitler. Seems only fair that we give all the murdering baastards the same treatment

Me?? thiEFF??? No sani your Mighty Elephant Brain is confused with all its intellectual activities. Nut let me give you a lesson. Mao was a mighty warlord who used a variant of Leninism, aimed not at mobilising the proletariat but the sub-peasantry, to exterminate his enemies. His murderous regime led to the insanity of the cultural revolution that was a catastrophic and criminal act which set his nation back 30 years. His wife who followed his methods was imprisoned for LIFE as having formed part of the oligarchical GANG of FOUR.When Mao die crowds took to the streets and began to dismantle his hated system of oppression.
Teach your kids that.

Stop undermining the intelligents of other people when I was a first year student at UKZN I was introduced to the name as part of urmhabulo I have even thought my 8yr old child about Mao Zedong , if you have a child teach her/him these things thats why we buy them ipads for child development

Aug 29, 2014 8:35 | 3 replies

ytieduniS

Dandan - Hehehe, which is why your child will be poor and uneducated. Instead of teaching your child about communism, you should teach him about capitalism. Maybe then he/she will be equipped for the future. Otherwise, you are just teaching your child how to be a beggar.

Aug 29, 2014 8:41 | 1 replies

capitalism benefits the manipulators, so before we teach it one needs to level the playing field through other means. capitalism is simply me and only me, fack the rest. it is a good model in a 1st world country not for developing countries

Chairman Mao did great, he was only a dictator when it came to the resistance he encountered amongst the educated people in cities, for the poor people of China he made good changes, women education and the general increase in the schooling population in rural china were all his efforts. People resisted against Mao because his communist party was viewed as an enemy by those city folks who benefited from the purging of the communist by the gorvenment. same gorvenment that cried for his help when the japanese came in.

BOKKER

DKok Those of us with a "struggle" history revered the "great" Revolutionary Leaders. We thought that what was said about them was Western propaganda. It wasn't They were murderous tyrants who had only one aim. To stay in power. When Stalin Died when Mao died their own people started to break down their legacy out of hatred for their experiences. Its time to look at history and judge what occurred fairly and honestly. Capitalism is NOT in my opinion the most desirable form of socio/economic relations but least it dilutes the power of the few. The methods of Stalin and Mao reduced the few to even fewer and these were the most ruthless of all.
