A five-year-old girl from Pretoria screamed so hard during a hijacking that the robbers stopped the car and ran away, Beeld newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Annamarie van Greunen was left in the car when an armed man and two accomplices forced her aunt out of the vehicle in Danville, Pretoria, on Sunday afternoon.

The girl reportedly asked one of the hijackers if he would take her back home if she listened to him but he replied "no".

This was her cue to start screaming. And Annamarie did not stop screaming until the three men stopped the car and ran off with some of her aunt's possessions.

Annamarie got out of the car and ran to the street where a member of the community policing forum - which had been alerted to the hijacking -picked her up.

Although the feisty young girl went back to her nursery school on Tuesday, she still asks her mom: "Do they now know where I live?"
