The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) on Thursday confirmed that a giraffe which was in transit on the N1 bridge has died.
The giraffes were being transported on the N1 highway at the back of a truck with their heads sticking out.
Witnesses say that one of the giraffes hit 'his' head against the Garsfontein bridge
The giraffes were rerouted to a veterinarian where it was established that the one giraffe had died due to severe head injuries.
