Amandla to Nkandla!

The ANC sweeps home with victory of 62 percent in the 5th democratic elections, while the DA hovered at 22 percent.

The IEC declared the 2014 elections free and fair.

"I hereby, on behalf of the Electoral Commission, declare the 2014 National and Provincial Elections free and fair,” says Pansy Tlakula.

Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba said the ANC was humbled to have surpassed the 10 million votes mark and would repay citizens by redoubling their efforts in government.

"It is no longer about celebrating -- hard work lies ahead. We need to hit the ground running," he said.

The DA's campaign manager Jonathan Moakes said the party was fairly satisfied to see its national vote share grow by about a third.

In the 2009 elections, the DA received 16.66 percent of votes.

"I think there are some good results. Within our expectations we are pretty happy," Moakes said.

The Economic Freedom Fighters won just over a million votes, putting its result just above six percent

The far-left outfit launched less than a year ago,  claimed ten percent of the vote in Gauteng and in North West, home to the strike-ridden platinum sector, it secured just over 13 percent of votes.

The IEC said voter turnout was at about 70.8 percent -- defying predictions that voters would stay away en masse to punish the Zuma administration for misspending, slow delivery, and sluggish economic growth.

Zuma praised the Electoral Commission of SA for its work and for sorting out problems during the election time speedily

"We thank the IEC for enabling our people to exercise their Constitutional right to vote diligently," he said at the announcement of the final election results in Pretoria.

"The declaration of the elections as free and fair and transparent is an achievement for the South African people. "
