The biggest typo to ever trend on Twitter
The world watched closely as Oscar Pistorius took the stand today at High Court in Pretoria - but what they weren't watching so closely, was the spelling of a hashtag topic they intended to share with the Twitter followers.
When we all tweet during the Oscar Trial, we use the hashtag #OscarTrial to share the proceedings of the court case with those do not have access to the live trial - and we follow hashtags like #OscarPistorius, or #OscarsTrial or similar channels to keep an eye on various discussions regarding the Paralympian's case - but little did we expect - a trending topic called "OscarTrail".
It takes thousands of people to tweet the same #hashtag for Twitter to label it a trending topic, so we are now amazed at the number of people who tweeted the same typo..
Sorry, gotta go. We're following a trail, an Oscar Trail.....
