Thousands of people have been evacuated after torrential rains caused the partial collapse of the Tokwe-Mukosi dam which had become a nightmare for most displaced residents.

Chingwizi transit camp had denied most people basic human rights -  but some of them seem to miss their conjugal rights just as much as everything else and are not ashamed to say it.

myzimbabwe.co.zw reports that a Chingwizi camp resident Irene Bvuwa summed it all up when she blatantly declared that she was sexually starved.

"We are on punishment in the tents. I have a husband and six children and do you think I can get sex in such a situation? Tell us how we must cope. We tell them give us tents for children and tents for parents, but they can’t. How can I get sex in such a situation. I came here on the 26th of February and up to today I am still on punishment. What can I do?" Bvuwa said.

She also complained of the food rations they were getting, saying that they were not enough.

"We are given 50kg of mealie-meal and 1kg of beans. How do you balance that?"

Bhasikiti said the government would be supporting all families at the transit camp for the next 12 months and warned that "we run the risk of starving the people".

He said each family was getting 50kg of mealie-meal per month, a packet of matemba and beans but bigger families got 100kg of mealie-meal.
