Moseneke appointed acting Chief Justice

Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke has been appointed acting chief justice of the Constitutional Court, the Constitutional Court said on Tuesday.

Moseneke was appointed by President Jacob Zuma as Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng is on leave.

Mogoeng has been on leave since the fourth quarter of 2013 and is expected back in the court in the second quarter of this year.

"Justice Thembile Skweyiya has been appointed acting deputy chief justice for this period," the Constitutional Court said in a statement.

Justice Bess Nkabinde was also on long leave and was expected to return to the court only in the third quarter of 2014.

Justice Steven Majiedt of the Supreme Court of Appeal, and Justice Nambitha Dambuza of the Eastern Cape division of the High Court were appointed acting justices of the Constitutional Court in the interim.
