Former ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema was released on a warning after appearing in court on charges of assault.

Malema appeared in the Thabamoopo Magistrate's Court in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo on Thursday, according to the report.

It was alleged that Malema assaulted Kgotsofalo Mogorwane and Samuel Matome Mafokwane on Sunday at Roomers Shisanyama where he was a DJ.

Police spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said: "He wanted to leave the venue and his car was parked in.

"He then allegedly slapped the two victims."

Magistrate Simon Matshaba postponed the common assault case to July 2.

Malema will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on June 20 on charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering, and racketeering.
