Woman in court for welfare fraud

A 57-year-old woman is set to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on Friday for allegedly stealing R3.8 million from Child Welfare SA in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

According to the Hawks she is accused of transferring social grants into her personal account between 2009 and 2011.

She was arrested in February and is facing 158 counts of fraud and corruption. She was recently appointed to a senior management post in the province's education department.
