Petrol price to rise

The price of petrol (95ULP) will increase by 10 cents a litre at the coast and 12 cents a litre in Gauteng, with effect from midnight on Tuesday 2.4.2013.

The wholesale price of diesel with a sulphur content of 0.05 percent will rise by seven and nine cents a litre respectively, and that of diesel with a sulphur content of 0.005 percent by eight and 10 cents a litre, the energy department said in a statement on Wednesday.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would increase by 30 cents a litre at the coast and 26 cents in Gauteng.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin decreased, but the average rand/US dollar exchange rate weakened.

Also taken into account were the 23-cents-a-litre increase in the fuel and Road Accident Fund levies which Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan announced in the Budget in February, the department said.
