A MAN was arrested after he was found in possession of a speed jamming device on the N3 in Heidelberg, Gauteng traffic police said
"He was stopped on Saturday after the speed machine used by traffic officials failed to detect the speed he was travelling in. The equipment was found in the car," spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said.
The man was charged with defeating the ends of justice.
He is expected to appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate's Court today.

I think I have to install one. JMPD installs cameras on downhills at places where no accident has ever occurred. There this is a purely revenue raising exercise so I won't have a problem "defeating the ends of justice.Anyway you can look at the alternative device. It just warns you that radar equipment is being used in the area. This might not constitute a crime.

An exercise in futility if you ask me, you are bound to be stopped and arrested for having a jammer installed even when you are not driving faster than the limit. It's not like JMPD Officers can't see your speed is not registering.Rather use an App that alerts you of the speed limit, whether you are travelling faster than the limit and if there is a speed camera around or if a JMPD officer and / or roadblock has been spotted.
Try an App like Trapster or Wase, Wase is better because it is interactive and you can see messages from other users. In December I drove to Durban with Trapster on all the way and it kept me abreast with those sneaky speed cameras especially approaching tollgates where the speed drops suddenly and there is a camera to trap you even before you've had the chance to drop your speed.
