Youth League leadership faces the axe

MOVES are under way to disband the national executive committee of the ANC Youth League and rid it of the influence of its former president Julius Malema.

This is among the issues that emerged from the commissions that have been debating a wide range of issues at the Mangaung conference since Tuesday.

This comes a few days after ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe's scathing criticism of the league. Mantashe said the league was acting in a similar manner to forces that were against the party.

An ANCYL leader from Gauteng said the league was not complementing the ANC and would compromise President Jacob Zuma's election campaign in 2014.

Sowetan understands that KwaZulu-Natal youth league members and their Ekurhuleni counterparts launched the bid to disband the NEC before the closing of the conference today.

However, a Greater Johannesburg region league member who is against the move said: "What they are doing will result in chaos . we will fight for the ANC Youth League at [the] plenary session."

His views were echoed by Mpumalanga youth league chairman Clarence Maseko. "They say the league is ill-disciplined and doesn't listen. They want us to do what they want. This youth league is independent [from the ANC] in thought and execution, and that doesn't bode well with the leadership."

This is not even suppose to be a debate...It's clear ANC is bullying ANCYL!!!

ANC got nothing to do with ANCYL leadership...What does AUTONOMY mean kanti???ANC should wait for ANCYL AGM.
Members of the ANCYL are the ones who got a right to disband the leadership or elect leadership of the ANCYL not the ANC itself.
This move is the move of the people who undermine the indepence of the ANCYL. Those who are raising this issue are the ones who don't know the history of ANC and the ANCYL with its constitution. What is suprising even more - These people are the delegates of this organisation but they don't know its history and constitution..Maybe just maybe - They never once become ANCYL members in their lifetime and they mis-interpret the whole thing..By being a member of the ANC does not mean you are member of ANCYL automaticaly. You have to join ANCYL to become a member. That alone simply illustrate the independance of ANCYL.
Just a question - What Peter Mokaba was fighting for when he was a president of ANCYL?Maybe we should ask these people then ask them what was the outcome?

Lastly I would like to clarify this : ANCYL is not South African Youth League. Please people get that into your mind. If you don't understand that you will always ask: What ANCYL has done for the youth of South Africa..You are confusing yourself. Speak to government about the youth of South Africa not ANCYL.
So lets discuss the function of the ANCYL within ANC structures and how important it is. If the ANCYL can stop radical movement that simply means its the death of liberal movement for our people.
MASS action to revolutionalise South Africa came from ANCYL and that was radical movement..Today we are talking economic freedom and to achieve that we have to be radical and influence the leadership of the ANC.
Zuma is like Dr Xuma even Dr Xuma was better than this cause he allowed ANCYL to excise its mandate..How?By letting himself excused when he feared radical action towards political freedom.
ANC has achieved political and social freedom but not economic freedom and we should not stop.
Long Live ANCYL long live

and I repeat. This is not suppose to be debated nor entertaining it.

By debating this we are actually entertaining those who think they know it all and they can do everything without any-1 stopping them. YES no one will stop you but the constitution will unless you undermine the constitution of the organisation itself.

Let's not debate this it's obvious!!!!!!
