'Men must protect women'

The ACDP has called on men to protect women against violence.
“Violence against women is largely perpetrated because men regard women as possessions and sexual objects,” African Christian Democratic Party MP Steve Swart said in a statement on Sunday.
“It is this attitude which must change,” he said.
“Men can play the most active part in preventing violence against women.
“This is not a women’s issue, it is a man’s issue.
"Violence against women is interlaced with gender equality, and deeply ingrained in the attitudes of men”.
Swart was commenting at the close of the 16 days of activism against gender violence.
“Good men need to speak up every time they hear a woman being disrespected, objectified and violated even by words,” he said.
“We can no longer enshrine a patriarchal culture nor condone violence with attitudes at the expense of our women.”

The 16 days of activism against gender violence is not helping and will never help our situations especially if more and more pressure is been puted in our brothers and uncles by government and ada institutes etc men of today are bitter bcos s.perm donors are not pepared to be good fathers and role models to there children ..and today children are so stubbon bcos they have been raised by mothers .in the olden days fathers wer around and they used to walk around with their boys boys and mothers with there baby girls and that help both parties to teach children wat is expected from them if they grow up, today lives is just a lovely comedy we must all enjoy nothing can be done the government creat l.aws which seems to interfere with the capabilities of parening and our cultural and tradision systems have been undermined and ignored perhaps women are also confused with this too much r.ights and l.awsReport Abuse

T.C.TCome back from the Stone Age bro, women are assertive today because of the advancements made in the 21st Century, nothing can drag them back to Jurrasic times (where you belong). Absent fathers are absolving themselves of responsibility because they seem to imagine they live a life of animals, whereby a male takes no part in rearing his children. Women had to be father and mother to their single households because of male absenteesm. We need more women in positions of power because they are more efficient, articulate and methodical in dealing with life issues, whereas men are corrupt, ruthless and incompetent in their struggle to enrich themselves. T.C.TDo you ever listen or in this case, read what you write?? Stone Age women had no rights at all, were kidnapped at will, during war, they were stolen as like objects and had no voice at all. You dont lack the capacity to think, YOU HAVE NO BRAIN. I prefer women of TODAY, who make their own decisions and judges of their destinies. Go back to your cave, and take no WOMAN with you
