I have always wondered how this minister became a minister in the first place, this woman never talks sense every time she is interviewed. This is one dumb minister in the entire cabinet n i blame the dumb president who put her there. In the absence of the best, the worst (aka Bathabilie Dlamini) become the best with no clue on the mandate at hand. We are no longer interested on the DA findings. Can all the DA people learn, if you want us to take you serious, you should have said minister Dlamini should have spent R700 on accommodation but she spent R770 000. Further than that please show us how much are DA mp,s and your madam is spending in hotel accommodation. It's hard to believe that only ANC public representative are using expensive accomodation. jealousy aside, R764'000 in 36months is not much. This DA members must not pretend as if they do not know that hotels are expensive. For your information a minister bookings include various security staff members. Unless the DA wants us to believe that If you are a black minister you must always draw a caravan with a van and sleep there just to avoid the big mouth of this Devil Association. To hell with the DA. Report Abuse

Ndokza - That is alot of money that could have gone to uplifting the poor. Which is her mandate right? If the MP stayed in a 4 star hotel, the bill would have been reduced to R300,000. Leaving her R400,000 to help the poor. That could have bought 400 families groceries for one month, or build homes for 20 families. Report Abuse

What a contradictory statement if this ugly minister cared or as stated that she works with the poor why stay in plush hotels then? Why can't she find a average accomodation such as B&B in those communities she visits? Answers please I need to offload somesh....

It works out at more than R5000 per night. I have to travel for my company all the time and usually stay in a top Jhb hotel (eg. Raddison Blu or Southern Sun Hydepark). I have never needed to pay more than R2000 per night. Of course we are not allowed by our company to take anything from the minibar (a bottle of water can cost up to R50 from the minibar), we have a maximum meal allowance of R200 (including drinks) and our company gets special rates. I am sure the government can negotiate even better special rates with certain hotel chains given the government's enormous buying power and I am sure the government can put prudential limits in place per meal/per day for expenses!
