What amazes me is how many big corporates in SA, and I mean top 40 companies even, have a culture of conservative spending in terms of travel and accomodation etc. I know even of an Financial director at a listed company who flies economy class and when staying over does so in a reasonable 3-4 star hotel. How many companies these days allow middle and snr management (not directors) to fly business class? If companies have to spend their pennies wisely because its actually shareholders money, shouldn't
GOVT do likewise?? It is rediculous to say the least.

Our constitutionally democratic state allows not only for separation of powers from the judiciary, legislature and executive but it establishes, through hybrid federalism, for courts of tribal leaders and tribal rule - Section 211 and 212 of the Constitution. There's no duties the king can have that can justify this. In fact, if he just stayed at home and did something worth R800k per month for a village of his people, he'd be building a legacy worthy of a king.
Bohlale1, sorry, for a moment I thought you were defending Zweli's spending by saying "what about Charles". Dr.Head, Van Riebeeck and cronies, as well as some British and their cronies were sirs, or bosses or whatever they were called those days. The rest of the whites were mostly labourers for royalty, so they jumped at the opportunity to get away from the slave masters. They were told by their kings that no people lived on the land heree, and that the kings want to give it to them as a gift for their loyalty. In the meantime, all that the kings wanted, was for them to live on the borders and protect the kings' new land against invaders. You seem to thrive on controversial comments these days. Your hat'red of African heritage and symbols seems to be blinding you.
Just a couple of days ago you advocated for the total eradication of African indigenous languages from school syllabi.
Today you are advocating for the removal of one of the most important symbols of Zulu history and heritage, i.e. Zulu monarch. Who is that majority of Zulus you are talking to? Go to KZN, speak to genuine Zulus the eradication of Zulu monarch, hear what they will tell you before coming to such sites to peddle li'es.
Self-respecting Africans can see through your poi'sonous agenda. This is Africa, proud Africans will never take either white sup'remacists or sell-outs like you who are hellbent and on a mission to literally remove everything that is symbolic and representative of African societies.

What you people dont understand is, the Zulu King is a prime landlord presiding all over the province land, hence all mineral resources and people having houses on that land have to subscribe tenency contribution to his marjesty. Mathimetically speaking what you complaining about is nothing compared to what the King is entitled to, that is just based on your ignorency of Royal affairs.
Kings longtime before him were entitled to the same treatment, where citizen or subjects were paying heads of cattles to the king in the thrown due to his landlord status , which in terms of money and value from time to time is not making any different to what you interpret as cash today, according to current currency exchange in our market.
Hence your outcry may call for the worse if he charges in percentages according to the size of his land and all the asserts included. Report Abuse

I think it will be a very good idea that we start looking into any party to vote fro which won't have any person from KZN as a leader and from there we start prosecutions, starting with the president zuma himself ,then all these little toy kings will follow. All they are trying and actaully doing id to destruct anything that is against corruption..siss...wake up SA you are being shoved down the swerage.

You are mistaken, the Zulu monarchy and other monarchlets were protected in the CODESSA deal, in Mandela and Mbeki's government the Zulu monarchy was already given a lion's share and it was spoiled, believe you me even under any ANC leadership the Zulu kingdom will call the shots, that is the kind of democracy we voted for, simply nonsense, a real democrazy. It is not only Zuma who spoils the king but the ANC per se spoils this man and his family, including the stupid Phathekile Holomisa and others, it the ANC. Report Abuse

That is a typical a subject / slavery mentality, this man is not entitled to anything but hard work. This is the most ancient was of oppressing people. No one is born to rule others that is a pure broad day robbery. Kings are the sons of ancient dictators who bullied and dominated others and eventually made people believe that they were special and it was a gods given rights to rule them. That is and was worse than apartheid, and it should be dealt away with in this 21 century, anyone who support this filth is no better than anyone who supported Verwoord, Kamuzu Banda, Hitler, that is a fact. If Zulu people paid money to their king out of their own pockets, then you'd not hear a word from me about how much he earns. The problem is that money is being taken away from people who are NOT his subjects, or living on his land, to give to him. That is wrong. Report Abuse

What about other Kings in South africa? good question, during the Aglo-Zulu war, where were they? the fact is they decided to submit themselves as vaquished and slaves to the colonists and fought the war from the side of the colonists against the Zulu mighty, when the Zulus defeated the British empire, that gave all the powers of south african land to the Zulus , as Zulus won the war against the colonialts including kings who subjected themselves to colonialists as slaves.
Secondly during Codesa before 1994 elections, Zulus mad it a priority to secure the position and security of their king and his land ,(Royal trust) under his majesty as a prime land lord with title deeds, hence you cant blame us for the illiteracy of other people who always think they are clever in talking, but remains nothing on actions. So is not upto the zulus to teach everyone, but we can do ourselves a favour by visiting the tourist areas and educate ourself free of charge, zulus position is carefully built. Report Abuse

Your problem is that you do not know your own pre-history, let alone history, lalela, sisi, you are not the only one who believe in that we will have a bad luck. Let me tell you something, France had a king and a queen just like Zweliyacomplainer who starved their subject, they came one day and told the monarchy that needed bread, Mary Antoinette the queen said " let them eat cake". The French people stormed the palace and dethroned not only the king but the whole oppressive system and today the French with their bad luck are enjoying a better quality of life than you with you king of good luck. monarchy get destroyed all the time and the sun does not fall. Away with selfish parasite, who exploit the people they claim they love. Mabahambe, we do not need them with their good luck.

@ Mzabalazo, I do share the same sentiments with your take, but the bitter truth is the kind of economy we subscribe to, which favours those devisions in the power of economy distribution, hence we have the owners of produce and producers.
On this light I hope you understand that, the fact that you are working doesnt give you right to equal benefit or earning with your employer, even if there is no difference between you two in terms of jobs perfomance. But the prejudice still remains that your employer as the owner of produce, where you as a worker and others you are activelly producing, the end production benefit is still rewarded more to the owner, when you and your co producers are only entitled to a fraction or less than that Report Abuse

This is done to restore the credibility of tribal leaders and their value to society taken away by a past littered with abritrary rule.

Moffdat, I don't really care if he's a rep for the whole nation, or just the Zulu nation, it is an obscene amount of money to be spent and wrong in so many ways that one cannot even begin to explain it on a forum like this. There's no duties the king can have that can justify this. In fact, if he just stayed at home and did something worth R800k per month for a village of his people, he'd be building a legacy worthy of a king.Bohlale1, sorry, for a moment I thought you were defending Zweli's spending by saying "what about Charles". There is a war that is not talked about here in South Africa, I mean we talk about interacial wars like June 16 , and some of the massacres that we experinced as a country but this one,
The Zulus fought Xhosa's and in Katlehong and Thokoza in the late 80's and early 90's,the Xhosa won the fight and the Xhosa's won the fight. That issue is getting supressed, why for Zulu people to act a big short like they do?

Dr.Head, Van Riebeeck and cronies, as well as some British and their cronies were sirs, or bosses or whatever they were called those days. The rest of the whites were mostly labourers for royalty, so they jumped at the opportunity to get away from the slave masters. They were told by their kings that no people lived on the land heree, and that the kings want to give it to them as a gift for their loyalty. In the meantime, all that the kings wanted, was for them to live on the borders and protect the kings' new land against invaders. Anyways, having just escaped kingship and royalty, the last thing they wanted was another king.Report Abuse

2. The budget is allocated to the Kingdom not to the King as a natural person.

Go to KZN, speak to genuine Zulus the eradication of Zulu monarch, hear what they will tell you before coming to such sites to peddle li'es.

What you people dont understand is, the Zulu King is a prime landlord presiding all over the province land, hence all mineral resources and people having houses on that land have to subscribe tenency contribution to his marjesty. Mathimetically speaking what you complaining about is nothing compared to what the King is entitled to, that is just based on your ignorency of Royal affairs.Kings longtime before him were entitled to the same treatment, where citizen or subjects were paying heads of cattles to the king in the thrown due to his landlord status , which in terms of money and value from time to time is not making any different to what you interpret as cash today, according to current currency exchange in our market.
Hence your outcry may call for the worse if he charges in percentages according to the size of his land and all the asserts included.

Us whites shouldn't be making so much noise, but sh!t, it is difficult not to skinner about a person whose forefathers fought hard to free him from oppression, and he puts himself right back into oppression. To all if you understand a difference between a landlord and a tenant, you already have an answer the rest is useless noice. You dont question a landlord where does he works, but you pay the tenancy fee as an occupant to his property, landlord has got no issues about the colour of his tenants or what race his tenants areas long as tenant they subscribe the prescribed market fee for tenancy , if your colour or race gives you a problem , to conflict your tenancy agreement, you are at liberty to vacate the property of the landlord, the amazones land is still vacant for piorneers to explore on the wilderness of deserted mountains.Report Abuse

You are the only one who is a tenant of this lazy man. His grandfather did not purchase any piece of land to no one, he kilii# ed and bullied those who were weaker than him and claimed the land. Every human, animal, reptile, insect, and bacteria that find itself existing in this planet cannot claim a sole right of owning a a piece of land. No human has more rights than others by birth right, that is ridiculous and out - dated. monarchy is an oldest form of oppression and discrimination, discrimination by birth rights. I repeat those who support this cruel systems are more barbaric than the worse system ever produced to oppress others- apartheid. ndabezitha my foot.

I gather quite a number of Europeans countries pay bills for their kings and queens, subjects have been paying tribute to their kings/queens from donkey years so most governments around the world keep the tradition, most kings and queens abuse your their privileges so our government must take control of the situation or the king must get a job like everyone else.Report Abuse

What about other Kings in South africa? good question, during the Aglo-Zulu war, where were they? the fact is they decided to submit themselves as vaquished and slaves to the colonists and fought the war from the side of the colonists against the Zulu mighty, when the Zulus defeated the British empire, that gave all the powers of south african land to the Zulus , as Zulus won the war against the colonialts including kings who subjected themselves to colonialists as slaves.Secondly during Codesa before 1994 elections, Zulus mad it a priority to secure the position and security of their king and his land ,(Royal trust) under his majesty as a prime land lord with title deeds, hence you cant blame us for the illiteracy of other people who always think they are clever in talking, but remains nothing on actions. So is not upto the zulus to teach everyone, but we can do ourselves a favour by visiting the tourist areas and educate ourself free of charge, zulus position is carefully built.

sgubhusenkwishiWhen you talk about a monarchy you talk about the whole bunch of parasite and ancient oppressors, the fall in the same boat. Zweliyacomplainer is the worst of the parasite because the ANC gives him a bigger pie, so as to solicit the Zulu subjects' votes, otherwise the AmaXhosa, baPedi, baVenda baTswana etc. their loyalty is not competed for by the IFP. That is the only reason, but they are all parasites, they need to wake up and work, just like us, they should stop their pathetic excuse that they are meant to be supported by the nation.

But the prejudice still remains that your employer as the owner of produce, where you as a worker and others you are activelly producing, the end production benefit is still rewarded more to the owner, when you and your co producers are only entitled to a fraction or less than that

SerenadeI'm busy with my VAT return so I may not have been entirely joking about the idea but, no, I'm not actually suggesting decapitations.
I don't give a continental sh!t what any other king of queen does or does not do. I don't pay for their upkeep and their excess is not taking funds away from OUR hospitals, schools and infrastructure. If the all the people in the area had water, sanitation, schools and work programs - the old coot could have double that amount for all I care. I just don't understand how people can cheer him on as he sits in his airconditioned elongated blue light convoy, sipping champagne and smoking cigars whilst they live in hovels that most farmers wouldn't keep livestock in. The man drives out in a month what most of his luckiest serfs make in a lifetime.
