I am perturbed to say the least about this judgement. It demonstrate the inability of the judge to separate issues when it comes to the application of law and protection of the right to life as enshrined in the constitution. This further sets up a wrong precedence that people could always blame stress or depression or their abusive circumstances to perpetrate these nefarious activities. The sad reality is that she has gone through more than what she could explain in court, and people will always say why didnt she ask for help? The truth is help is hard to come by, we will always stand on the sidelines and judge, but i know if she had approached some of us for help she wouldnt have gotten the time of day.
its reality, its painful to see your kids starve, have a physically abusive lover, and at that point leaving him is a far worse option because of poverty....
Legally, the sentence is fair, 5 kids lost their lives...but because i am brutally honest, they are probably in a better place. she would have struggled to pay school fees, buy food, school uniform, medicare for the disabled child....

The reality is that if the 250m that is busy building private resident of ZOOMA was given or made in use to ordinary poor ppl like this lady things like this situation wouldnt have happend,We must take this action as the indication of brutality from our government under ZOOMA for denying PPL with service delivery and opportunities that would have changed lifes of poor and disturbed mental ppl like SIWA that money stolen by ZOOMA would have build clinics,schools,fostecares etc and lovers of ZOOMA neglect this kind of situation denying the facts that are rising.

In the rural areas, there is also a big problem with admitting or seeking help for mental health issues. It is put down to superstition and the person with the problem usually ends up dead. You should hear the painful stories that rural women who have autistic or CP children have to tell. It is heart breaking.

On this site, we have people who are educated enough to go onto the world wide web and type. How do you think a nurse can get through to them - let alone some poppie with an abusive boyfriend in a rural village? She is 33 years old, she isn't a child. We have clinics which promote family planning and when you have a baby, the first thing they speak to you about is family planning (you have to take a different family planning method if you are breast feeding). I feel very sad for the lady, she does not deserve to be in jail she really needs serious help as I believe she did this cause she was not at her right state having to have a patner who will say she must not use family planning and on top of that I feel the guy is not there to support the lady emotionally, cause normally whaen you have a baby you go through a stage called prenatal depression, reason women have this depression you don't have support at home and judging from this lady she was shuting down from family and friends who knows if this guy told him to do so and the guy also ignored her as well so this lady really needs help and am hoping she gets it, may God be with her. I am perturbed to say the least about this judgement. It demonstrate the inability of the judge to separate issues when it comes to the application of law and protection of the right to life as enshrined in the constitution. This further sets up a wrong precedence that people could always blame stress or depression or their abusive circumstances to perpetrate these nefarious activities. The sad reality is that she has gone through more than what she could explain in court, and people will always say why didnt she ask for help? The truth is help is hard to come by, we will always stand on the sidelines and judge, but i know if she had approached some of us for help she wouldnt have gotten the time of day.its reality, its painful to see your kids starve, have a physically abusive lover, and at that point leaving him is a far worse option because of poverty....
Legally, the sentence is fair, 5 kids lost their lives...but because i am brutally honest, they are probably in a better place. she would have struggled to pay school fees, buy food, school uniform, medicare for the disabled child....
There are too many disparities in South Africa.....too many!

T.C.TOur constitution won't allow for forced sterilisation and it is very hard to convince someone to do something if they won't even go to the clinic. In the rural areas, there is also a big problem with admitting or seeking help for mental health issues. It is put down to superstition and the person with the problem usually ends up dead. You should hear the painful stories that rural women who have autistic or CP children have to tell. It is heart breaking.
Family planning in SA is completely free, confidential and widely available. Nothing can excuse what she did

Our constitution won't allow for forced sterilisation and it is very hard to convince someone to do something if they won't even go to the clinic. In the rural areas, there is also a big problem with admitting or seeking help for mental health issues. It is put down to superstition and the person with the problem usually ends up dead. You should hear the painful stories that rural women who have autistic or CP children have to tell. It is heart breaking.
Family planning in SA is completely free, confidential and widely available. Nothing can excuse what she did

I feel very sad for the lady, she does not deserve to be in jail she really needs serious help as I believe she did this cause she was not at her right state having to have a patner who will say she must not use family planning and on top of that I feel the guy is not there to support the lady emotionally, cause normally whaen you have a baby you go through a stage called prenatal depression, reason women have this depression you don't have support at home and judging from this lady she was shuting down from family and friends who knows if this guy told him to do so and the guy also ignored her as well so this lady really needs help and am hoping she gets it, may God be with her.Report Abuse

the mass media you descrbed do have limits some get it some dont its a reality we leave under and if you check,the ppl who do have more kids are rural ppl who are not that educated ,working and some stay far way from clinics and what i noticed,nurses dont ask you about your issues of family planning as you suggest they ask you about the problem that brought you to their institution and prescribe the medicine finish and klaar check the ppl who obtain grants how many are they ,how many kids do they have,the places they stay cause kombies drive to their places and mobile clinics dont visit those places now and then. majority of ppl in my village dont know wat is NGO and are not that educated to that extend to know issues about sterilizing or prevention but young girls produces babies each year and one wonders wat impact or role the nurses are playing etc.WHAT i think should be done is amending the law not to allow ppl who are not working and having a stable relationship to have more than 2 children BUT those who are working and having seriouse stable relationship to have as many as they want knowing that children will be taken care by their parents and grants wont be misused.

If you have one child you get a tax reduction or a grant, same for your second child, if you have three children then your grant / tax reduction goes down to the same as if you had one child and if you have 4 children, you get nothing. 5 and above, your tax actually goes up.

paracuteAag shame man! she looks so innocent, and you can see she's no murderer and shows remorse to the terrible things she did, the verdict is fine so she can recuperate and revive from all and start afresh, she's still young and can still make life out of nothing, I am just glad the family have forgiven her and the judge saw innocence in her but she had to be punished for what she's done, resentment and abundance are not good for a person of her kind, the moron took advance of her condition, abused and ultimately dumped her like a used diaper, she pleaded guilty and that's all, a true murderer would have pleaded not guilty knowing they deliberately did it, justice played its real role on this matter.
