Easy money again. The conditions ate just right in SA for such scams - high unemployment, poor enforcement, high connectivity. There is nothing for free.

@candilious - you are describing an Advance Fee fraud. It takes many shape and form. Once you pay the first fee they ask for another and then another until you wise up.

Thats the disadvantages of the technology. People will always be tempted, due to their unfavourable life circumstances and this is very annoying because innocent people are always the victim.

The cause is we have a "Very High Influx" of foreigners who are unemployed and illegal in S.A. and do not have any other means of survival and they resort to all manner of crimes - the educated ones commit white collar crimes like this!! They are not traceable as they do not have any form of identity - one wonders how they landed in S.A. - our land of flowing milk and honey!

I agree with you this country is full of fools. You go to each and every CBD in SA you will be given pieces of papers with DR David who can help you with Penis enlargement or vigina reduction and you know what people are flooding those fake doctors rooms

It seems that many people in South Africa do not listen to news or are not educated enough to understand what is being said on the news.Like Pointman has rightly pointed out. This is advance fee fraud ,it has been around for more than 2 decades. The perpetrators keep changing their tactics but it still leads to the same end game.

It is your duty as South Africans and inhabitants of South Africa to educate your friends, neighbors and relatives about the various scams going on currently in the country. These scams are not only taking place in SA,they are taking place all over the world and the perpetrators come from different countries.

People need to get rid of this "get money for mahala" mentality and actually work to get money. There are a lot of lazy people in SA ,that is why they fall for these scams so easily. The continuous shifting of blame to foreigners will not change anything if the locals do not change their "mahala" mentality. It takes two to tangle ,if it sounds too good to be true avoid it like a plague. It is pretty simple really not rocket science.

ROFL: Those are bogus doctors who have identified the primary needs of most people: lost lovers, pen!s enlargement, w!tchcraft, love p0rtions, tightening the v@gina! etc. They are capitalising on our ignorance.

FOR THE FIRST TIME I CONCUR WITH YOU --- THANKS FOR SUCH A MUCH NEEDED LESSON, it is ignorance that is killing our people - even the educated fall for these 419 people. They can see that the letter or email are not professional or written in clumsy english but still fall for it. Lord save the people of SA from 'wayo' people!

@BiPolar - Lol ....I have not heard anyone use the word "wayo" in a very long time. Are you sure you are not Nigerian?? :)

I get these smses daily ,the other day i decided to waste my airtime and called the fool.As soon he started speaking to me i detected his Igbo accent even though he tried to sound white.I interrupted him and said :

"Oh boy ,na this one you dey do take pay your rent?? Instead of make you find better work do, you just dey prey on innocent people ,come dey give naija people bad name for South Africa.Na God go punish you,you this useless baboon"

Dude dropped the call and sent me a nasty sms threatening to deal with me.I tired calling him a second time just to shake him up but he blocked my number. The Tv and radio stations need to do more create more awareness because i really do not understand how anyone can fall for these unprofessional scams.

from a branding perspective, should he not be worried that these scamsters are doing damage to his reputation and image. he should be more proactive and report these people to the hawks or some campaign on talk radio so that people dont get dupped
