Who's funding Nkandla?

QUESTIONS about how President Jacob Zuma is funding the construction of his private family compound are set to arise after he dismissed claims that it was financed by taxpayers' money.

Of course the tax payers are paying for it. If not directly from tax coffers then indirectly through a tender of some sorts.

I am convinced the president is a liar. Why would public works say they cannot disclose the amounts if they did not pay. Sure his family can pay - but if they received the money through corrupt means it means we are still paying.

In a democratic country like the one we live in, people get the government that they want. People voted Zuma in, they need to be happy with what they chose. I voted the DA here in the Western Cape and I am happy with what I chose.

Zuma has become such a liability in the country that even all his kids are in one way or the other supported by us - the taxpayers. I still do not understand as to why do we spend so much on Zuma. He is not educated; He spent only ten years in Roben Island; He has many wives and countless children. The man cannot run his own affairs. The man is a confirmed convict - he has a previous conviction for tax evasion.

As president of the country he pays no tax, he is using the state cars to get around, he is driven by many chauffers, he is guarded by countless bodyguards, he has doctors, cooks, support staff, etc, assigned to him, and as if that is not enough, his Nkandla home will have a clinic, it will have a helipad, it will have a bunker... is this what we voted for?

His ex wife Nkosazana paid millions for a cameo role in Generations - It was during his wife's tenure that Mbongeni Ngema was paid the now infamous 14 million.

UZuma kulabo abangazi uyisehluleki esidala - kusukela ngo 1994 ubehola imali eshisiwe. He has always been a member of the executive, starting off as a provincial minister of economic development in KwaZulu-Natal in 1994 and today he is president of the country who fly around on Inkwazi sometimes accompanied by other planes. Nithi uyoza akhohlwa kodwa? Mina ngicabanga ukuthi namhla efayo uyokwendlalelwa ngamadoda ambalwa ethuneni njengoNandi, umama wale nkonkoni ewuShaka. UZuma uyabusa ntombi, kudala saqala simthwele and we are still supporting him, taking where Shabir Shakes left off.

the previouse rigime stole apples from the tree, but was also wise enough to prune it so that the tree can bear more apples. the current one; is a brainless mafia. it is choping down branches of the tree, in bulks nogal. soon there will be no tree, just a fruitles, leaf-less, branch-less stem in a dry desert.

According to News24

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
New information in documents, shows that improvements to the estate have already cost the taxpayer almost R250m.

According to the documents, the department of public works has since 2009 spent R188m on building work, and paid R54m to consultants.

This brings the costs of the project to R247m. The original budget calculated in 2009 was R23m.

A breakdown of spending on the Nkandla compound, which forms part of the public works department's prestige portfolio, includes
1. R23m for “emergency work”.
2. R121m to builders,
3. R2.4m for bulletproof glass,
4. R9.2m for a fence and
5. a payment of R1.9m to a leading international elevator company.
6. Millions have already been paid to consultants, including architects, surveyors, engineers and project managers.

The presidency said in an earlier statement that the improvements to the compound were a family decision, paid for by the Zuma family.

Zuma has circumstances that require him to stay in a bigger house, hence he chose his own, how many state houses for the presidents extended family? a.nger and h.ate make many a once smart man very d.umb

Who's funding Nkandla? That is a good question. Because the politicians are ducking and diving, we can oly speculate. President Zuma himself gives two versions. In the first one he says the family built the homsetead. In the second one, he says he built the house himself. And now already we have a problem because the two versions are obviously contradictory. The first version, if the family built the homstead, could it be that Aurora money was involved, considering that Khulubuse Zuma is Zuma's brother (Michael) 's son. The Aurora liquidators have to follow the money.

Could Zuma have built the house himself. We also know that Jacob Zuma was struggling to make ends meet before he became president. How can we forget an incident where Jacob Zuma was waiting at Capetown International Airport (with his bodyguards) , out if cash waiting for Schabir Shaik to give him R500. We also know that Msholozi also signed hundreds of cheques which were dishonoured or bounced. We also know that some businesspeople e.g Mr Reddy from KZN was providing loans to Msholozi to build the Nkandla homestead. Some people were saying that Reddy was donating money as a payback to Zuma because he got tenders and also other business with the help of Zuma when the latter was KZN MEC for Economic Affairs.

But we also know that there were allegations of offshore bank accounts related to the arms deal. Accounts in Mauritius and Isle of Man (UK) among others and some held via third parties. There is always a question of whether that money has found its way back into South Africa (assuming that the stories were true). There are relevant bodies ( e.g SARS, Financial Intelligence Centre, The Hawks among others) that can look into these things.

Another allegation is that Public Works is paying for some of the construction in Nkandla. That would mean that Jacob Zuma's private home has been illegally declared a National Key Point without following due process. Even if the house was declared a National Key Point, there are procedures, contraol and caps on expenditure and it would seem in this case the Handbook was tossed out. It is important for Jacob Zuma to come clean on these issues. R240m on Nkandla can build many houses for poor people who stay in informal settlements. This is just not acceptable. An ANC president should be different from some of those African despots who used the Treasury as their piggy bank. This is not how Oliver Tambo, Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki would have done things. This entire project has to be canned.

All thos people you are mentioning were or are not doing anything obviuos to the poor man on the ground to see. Because of his hunger for power Zuma thought he can manipulate the public which he won't succedd in doing. The public put him there and they supported by the parliamentarians can remove him democratically without using a coup de tat format.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------R200m for a fence, under normal circumstances no!!! It depends on who is getting the money. You would know that sometimes it costs R1000 for government to procure a pencil which under normal circumstances could seel for no more than R10. In the case of Nkandla all we need is a list of beneficiaries.

According to our Constitution a sitting president may be removed from office on the following grounds:
Section 89 Removal of President

1. The National Assembly, by a resolution adopted with a supporting vote of at least two thirds of its members, may remove the President from office only on the grounds of ¬
a. a serious violation of the Constitution or the law;
b. serious misconduct; or
c. inability to perform the functions of office.

Now based on the above grounds for impeachment Zuma appears guilty of the following.

1. Abuse of public funds or improper use of public coffers for personal gain
2. Deliberately misleading government and the public regarding the nature and extent of public funds on personal

Both of the above are grounds for impeachment of the President but I am not holding my breath that a vote of no confidence is going to be passed in a parliament dominated by the ANC, very sad indeed.

all of you Zuma haters think that should someone come into will be better than any of the previous presidents they are all power hungry and will just come and finish what was started by those who were in power before, never mind the political parties and others motive is to get the power and take us back to the previous era where certain individuals where regarded as better human than anyone else where they were served as Gods, i think we haves that era a long time ago but we still have those who still have wishes to go back there, I know and understand that even these rulers of today still treat us a bit harsh than those who ruled before, and everyone is aiming at a revenge and it is all at our peoples expense.
South Africa should have grown bigger than this and should be the most respected country form it's history and how it attained it's democracy and and revolution, for some countries only hear the word democracy but do not know what it looks like. claiming and fighting for ancestors and Heroes won't help if we are not following their foot steps for they would be meaningless.

Scopa concerned about national audits
Cape Town - Parliament's public accounts watchdog committee Scopa has voiced concern that the 2011/12 national audit outcomes indicate slow progress by departments towards achieving clean audits by 2014.
"Most departments are in the unqualified [category] with other matters' audit space, thus slowing the progress towards clean audits," Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) chairperson Themba Godi said on Tuesday
"We have also noticed with concern, the lack of movement in the audit outcomes of the department of public works, despite numerous engagements and attempts by various stakeholders to provide lasting solutions to the department's challenges," he said.

The committee was also concerned that the home affairs department had received a qualified audit opinion, a regression from the previous year's outcomes.

"We are calling for decisive leadership intervention in resolving some of the challenges faced by these departments and others that have acquired undesirable audit outcomes," Godi said.
As part of Scopa's oversight focus, the committee would speak to these departments to seek clarity on the reasons for the regression.
Our major determination in this regard is to ensure that the country efficiently utilises its financial resources in a manner that will ensure the realisation of its developmental objectives."

If you pay attention to detail, you will see that there is actually a difference. The first one says, I did not build this alone, my family was involved. The second one says "I built my own house". The first one could include money from Aurora. The second could include money from the arms deal and the Reddys. That is the difference but you know, we cannot put the old man on the stand. Just by the way, doyou stay in Nkandla or you just go there occassionally to visit. I say this because I see you are very emotional about Nkandla matters. You should let us know.
