Doesn't affect me directly right now but it's going to hurt all the Gauteners big time AND in the long run the rest of us around the country if the ANC get their way!
We have BILLIONS to squander on selfserving governmental twats but the public has to pay and pay and pay again for ALL their ill conceived plans. Best of all it wasn't even a new road but an an extention.
Why are taxis exempt - they are running a business and to my knowledge don't even pay tax????
Where do our direct taxes go not to mention the taxes built into the petrol price AND the licence fees?

I will buy an e-tag on two conditions:
1. You open up e-tolling financials for public viewing including:
- Total Amount Invested,
- Shareholder Register,
- Projected Revenue Collection
- How are the collected funds going to be allocated to operators and what portion is going to repaying the capital debt,
- How long will it take to pay off the principal debt
2. All new roads constructed must be tolled and the user pays principle must apply to everyone starting with the Nkandla roads.
We pay most of the taxes yet we and expected to pay for our infrastructure in Gauteng AND THEN subsidize the remaining 8 provinces which is madness. Report Abuse

You know what bugs me with e-tolling is the lack of basic principles of good governance:
1. Transparency – we have been saying all along please open e-tolling financials so we know how our money is going to be spent, government refuses to even name shareholders let alone tell us who is going to benefit and to what tune
2. Efficiency – the government is task by our constitution to seek the most efficient and cost effective options in the interests of South Africans. E-tolling is the most expensive option, the most inefficient and the least cost effective. The obvious choice has been dismissed outright which makes it obvious this is another money making scheme for connected individuals, this is robbery through legislation and we are the ones facing possible legal sanctions and perhaps even jail time if we refuse to participate.
3. Equality – Govt wants to have one set of rules for Gauteng and another set for the rest of the country, we are the only province where this user-pay principle will be applied yet Nkandla has just built two new roads at no cost to local residents.
This whole e-tolling arrangement smell of corruption no wonder they are so adamant in pushing ahead inspite of an obvious and overwhelming resistance from the public but we all know we have put habitual criminals in power so we should not be surprised.
This government is clearly arrogant and its heading to dictatorship. After much cries from the public and the court battles they have endured, they still going on with the E-Tolls. Worst thing is, all the money the they are going to get would be to pay to monitor and collect tolls. Something like spending 1.1 billion to collect 1.2 billion. The loans will never be paid of, most of the money is going to an overseas company, the 30c is just a start, Once implemented this will be raised at the rate that Eskom is increasing electricity. The cANCer wants to kill our economy for the sake of their pockets. Why will they not relase the all the documentation, why did the roads cost 4 times more than anywhere else in the world. why did they not consider a effective of funding. The R20 BILLION debt incurred with eTolls can EASILY be paid off, with the R30 BILLION that the ANC STEALS from South Africa EVERY YEAR.
In 4 years time you could pay off this debt, if you use governments entertainment fund. R1 BILLION stolen from Gauteng by Tau and her comrades.

I will buy an e-tag on two conditions:1. You open up e-tolling financials for public viewing including:
- Total Amount Invested,
- Shareholder Register,
- Projected Revenue Collection
- How are the collected funds going to be allocated to operators and what portion is going to repaying the capital debt,
- How long will it take to pay off the principal debt
2. All new roads constructed must be tolled and the user pays principle must apply to everyone starting with the Nkandla roads.
We pay most of the taxes yet we and expected to pay for our infrastructure in Gauteng AND THEN subsidize the remaining 8 provinces which is madness.

You know what bugs me with e-tolling is the lack of basic principles of good governance:
1. Transparency – we have been saying all along please open e-tolling financials so we know how our money is going to be spent, government refuses to even name shareholders let alone tell us who is going to benefit and to what tune
2. Efficiency – the government is task by our constitution to seek the most efficient and cost effective options in the interests of South Africans. E-tolling is the most expensive option, the most inefficient and the least cost effective. The obvious choice has been dismissed outright which makes it obvious this is another money making scheme for connected individuals, this is robbery through legislation and we are the ones facing possible legal sanctions and perhaps even jail time if we refuse to participate.
3. Equality – Govt wants to have one set of rules for Gauteng and another set for the rest of the country, we are the only province where this user-pay principle will be applied yet Nkandla has just built two new roads at no cost to local residents.
This whole e-tolling arrangement smell of corruption no wonder they are so adamant in pushing ahead inspite of an obvious and overwhelming resistance from the public but we all know we have put habitual criminals in power so we should not be surprised.

Worst thing is, all the money the they are going to get would be to pay to monitor and collect tolls. Something like spending 1.1 billion to collect 1.2 billion. The R20 BILLION debt incurred with eTolls can EASILY be paid off, with the R30 BILLION that the ANC STEALS from South Africa EVERY YEAR.In 4 years time you could pay off this debt, if you use governments entertainment fund. R1 BILLION stolen from Gauteng by Tau and her comrades.
