He is making an investment with his words, he knows that by publicly backing Zuma, Zuma will reward him with a Ministry position or to be the Head of NPA(it what he was eyeing for long ).

That how Zuma operate & they know that.

"Ramatlhodi said those who called Zuma a "moron and an imbecile and not an intellectual were not aware that the man operated within a collective".

So in other words Ramatlhodi admits that those who call Zuma a "moron and an imbecile and not an intellectual" may be correct but they should take comfort in the fact that Zuma is surrounded by smart people.

Not very inspiring when the deputy minister says things like that.

Ngwako Ramathlodi is definitely not stupid, he just suspends his intellect when he conveniently wears the hat of factionalism. But even Ramathlodi is telling us to read between the lines, that while Zuma is not up to it intellectually and otherwise, they are there to make sure that he walks the straight and narrow path. Ramothlodi also lets the cat out of the bag by saying at the same meeting that "Tmabo had humanity, even before the ANC placed him there, he said he did not want the presidency and although the ANC wanted him to serve a second term, he turned it down and these are the type of leaders we want". Factionalism aside, this man should definitely be appointed Minister of Justice in President Kgalema Motlanthe's administration.

Oliver Reginald Tambo was the only leader who led the ANC for such a long time and there was a reason for that. His leadership capabilities were not questionable (unlike what we are witnessing now). It is a wrong assessment wena ramatlhodi to suggest that the current leadership will lead us for a long time, you should remember that in December there is a conference in Mangaung and we will not be recycling leadership unfortunately. The ANC would emerge with a new leadership, that's for sure.

The ANC politics is the politics of the stomach.
It reminds me of Michela Wrong's book "It' our turn to eat".

I had the pleasure in 2011 to listen to a presentation by Michela Wrong herself about her book in University of Pretoria Auditorium (which was facilitated by Prince Mashele), and I remember how I constantly drew parallels during the presentation between what's happening in the ANC and the title of the book.
Those who are "eating" will defend the leader who appointed them fiercely, regardless of how he or she leads.
They will make speeches and carefully quote from great men and women those items that will further their agendas.
They will hand-pick certain qualities and attributes of great leaders that will further or defend a certain criticism.
They will play the man not the ball when critical voices rise, so they are the last man standing.

But what's more worrying is the frequent mention of past "credible" leaders of the ANC, some of whom has passed-on and some on the verge of it.
Are there no credible new generation leaders that these cadres can refer to when riding on moral high ground?

I wonder what takes one to deliver OR Tambo lecture as this does not at all befits the stature of O.R.
This moron is actually saying that the man he is trying to defend is indeed a moron but that he is surrounded by very intelligent people who, by the way, allow him to live in a hill of fools. To put it more bluntly, the former president (Thabo Mbeki) is in fact correct by intimating that the country is rudderless as it is led by Zuma and his pads all of whom have no clue as to what should be done (Not in so many words, but implied). Ha! we hear you Ngoako. I guess you are also from Limpopo...
