I am sure there is a policy in place to do background checks but either HR was lazy or thought "this is such a nice guy - I am sure his background is okay". And innocent kids end up being exposed to predators. These people are expert manipulators - a nice compliment or a small present buys a lot if influence. Report Abuse

I find it hysterical that the people here who actively do NOT& engage in racist or sexist hate-speech and aim for some form of rational approach - albeit sarcastic or ironic and pften merciless, are the ones exiled. while people openly advocating violence seem welcome. @ RobinH- The problem we have on this forum is people fail to respect themselves and can not respect others. They have so many issues and would rather blame the next person that be truthful with themselves. When you are doing an employment check, you can only ask about what is on the official form. If you ask about anything like attitude or disciplinary measures, the applicant can sue both the interviewer and the person giving the reference. Another fine mess from our dear mates at Cosatu Report Abuse

What happened to service certificates that were always given in government institutions when a person leaves his job? This certificate used to state the duration you worker there, your last position, and your reason for leaving. You could not be employed again unless you produced this certificate. Report Abuse
