Valid statement. But unfortunately the majority will not vote DA bcos they fear the return of apartheid. They would rather suffer under anc rule than to be truly free under anyone else. As long a SA Denfence has more Generals than the troops our Defence will continue to spend more on catering, entertainment and travel allowances. Duplication of work, too many chiefs without knowledge and Decisive Leadership. Always first to get pay raise, a lot of pay benefits, etc First to oppress their own subordinate. You can no longer be proud to be an Officer in the Defence.Report Abuse

DJ-WinnerLets try and put this in a way that EVEN you could comprehend! AT THE END OF EVERY MONTH YOU GET YOUR SALARY. DO YOU SPEND IT ON YOUR FAMILY TO ENSURE THEY HAVE FOOD, SHELTER, CLOTHING ETC OR DO YOU GO TO THE SHEBEEN AND DRINK IT AWAY? You are legally entitled to do this but does that make it right that your family (South Africans) must suffer while you(government) get to party with their money?

It is this kind of mentality that has rendered Africa a dying continent. Money is being wasted on parties and travel and NOT the people of the country and the fact ijits like this cant see it is the root cause of the problem.

I wonder if DA will be able to cope with this entire president they are proclaiming. I really wish the can win an election in my era so I can bear witness.Yes, it is irresponsible for government to spend such large sums on just entertainment; But, what about the rest of the economic players?
Government is surely spending this money on Investors/business partners but none of them are mentioned in this.
Selective media as always, trying hard to portray others like they did in the past and will continue to do so in this present day.

I really see how the media can misinform people. Sowetan, in government we work like this. I will travel from Pretoria to Kimberly to work there for three weeks and I will be booked in a hotel to stay there. Imagine roughly 800000 government officials doing the same for a year.If they don't avail themselves to the people you complain. If they do you complain. What more do you want.

Valid statement. But unfortunately the majority will not vote DA bcos they fear the return of apartheid. They would rather suffer under anc rule than to be truly free under anyone else. I do believe the DA is the better option but Zille should step down and get someone like Dr Ramphele to lead or even Lindiwe to make it a more credible party in the eys of the majority.Although I do think Zille is an excellent leader she should do what is right to move forward.

@Warry at Kimberly there is no one that can do what you do? The national must communicate with provincial and provincail with local so why do they have to go there?if they hire their local people and some one give instruction from national do inspection or visiting once a year, that will be cutting of expendituere. if you hired capable people there is no way of going to them now and then because they will be working with you towards a goal of your organisation. If is kind of urgent which the government do not know what is urgent. What about the money for entertainment while the poor does not have the water.Report Abuse

This a few more billions added to the trillions that the ANC have already wasted. Trillions that could have be used to create millions of jobs, built houses and schools, infratructure, roads. They know they wont be voted out, they know they can always blame apartheid / colonists / white people and they know there is nothing anyone can do about it. They can just lie about the DA, they know there is no other strong party. VIVA ANC, killing the future of our kids, one billion rand at a timeReport Abuse

@DA-DBN-GUY you gave a relevant example when you receive your monthly salary you allocate as per your need,1 of government needs its travelling and accomodation then they have to allocate money for that.refer to budget principle.
DA knew about this allocation during the budget process and to complain now it doesnt give sense to me unless if they say the spent unbudgeted amount.

The black people of this country need to change if they want a better governed country - by voting for another political party. The whites have no role to play - they are only 8% of the country. Any black person who cannot see that this country will be bankrupt in 10 years, is plain blind. We have more problems today than during Apartheid - whether we have the intelligence to see this today or not. In today's modern world, we Africans still want to resolve all issues through bloodshed (look Malema and the strikers - this problem is going to escalate out of control in 2 years time). But bloodshed has not helped any African country at all in history - but do we read history ? Oh sorry - we have no education system - so how can we know ? I'm so embarrased these days.Report Abuse
