Is it true that ANC has stopped SABC from airing a programme where Prince Mashele was criticising zuma? do we have media freedom in SA or we just like zimbabwe?

I think it's a curse being a female in this era period...I've just viewed some rather disturbing photos from an article of 55 year old men marrying 8 year old little girls!! It's horrific!

Incognito: Worst of all, is the completely rabid chauvinism that so many of the male readers here display. If this is any indication of the attitudes of men in general (I would lilke to believe that they represent a small, sick but vocal minority, as I am male) then I am disgusted. Truly disgusted. A vast number of male readers here seem to see women not even as 2nd class citizens, but as some possession or plaything to be used as they wish and discarded at will. YUCK!

Robin - Funny for you to say that yet on the other article you find photos of male urinery shaped as women private parts amusing,isnt that the same as viewing women as sex objects or "some possession or plaything to be used as they wish and discarded at will."? You Sir, are confused and I think u fall under male readers who have no respect for women.# am just saying!

@Flemza
With due respect, your comment seems to imply that because he paid lobola for her he owns her ... and that we should over look her basic human right...the right to decide where she wants to be and with whom?

Nafuthi...he probably was taking her home to fulfill his promise to kill her...so good on her for her bravery and jumping out that car when she did - and good on the police for arresting the bully!

You Sir, do not reason like a lawyer. I shudder to think, if you are indeed a lawyer, that you have to present a logical argument in front of a magistrate in defence of somebody who is paying for your services. If you are a lawyer and have never had any head injuries after completing your studies then someone out there owes you money. You were seriously short-changed on your education bill Sir.

Galfriend: I see no contradiction. I see these as witty reflections on male rituals in urinals. They are so far from realistic that I feel that your objections are unfortunate. I would be just as amused by satire on male issues. For example, in a 70s Cheech and Chong comedy, there is a scene with two men in a urinal, one in leathers with countless zips and flaps and one in a suit with a smart briefcase under his arm. The one in the leathers battles to find which zip to open, while the guy in the suit smartly unzips his briefcase and pees. It's amusing. I notice, for instance, also, that men seem unable to stand at a urinal without looking at the guy next to them's size. It's automatic, and very amusing. Not hysterically funny, but it brings a chuckle, and humour makes the nasty world so much more bearable. I think so, anyway. In actual fact I am a strong advocate of women's rights and a harsh critic of chauvinism of any form, as you may have noticed.

Maybe this idea of lobola should be re-thought out. It is no longer a compensation to the family and proof of his ability to take care of the woman, it is now considered to be purchasing goods.

Voetzek. Do what your name says. A woman is NEVER a man's possession. Marriages can end in divorce if the woman (or man) is unhappy. This pathetic belief so obvious in so many readers here, that they "own" a woman, even using telltale terms like "MY woman" is utterly disgusting. She is not YOUR woman. She is a woman who chooses to be with you. Back to the dark ages with you!

how couldsomeone claim to pay lobola to her without her knowledge because lobola shoul be negotiated by including eldeers and there are some procedures to be followed. LADY are you telling the truth, because before even the negotiations there should be a relationship between two people.

I hope this thing does not become a scourge on our women. This kind of behaviour is endemic in parts of pakistan, chechnya and other caususes countries but I notice there have been at least two reports of such behaviour recently.
