Beware of the enemy within: Zuma
"We shouldn't allow the organisation to be destroyed in front of our own eyes."
The ANC had to beware of the enemy within its organisation, President Jacob Zuma said on Friday.
"The enemy is always present... in different guises, sizes and shapes," Zuma said in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg.
"OR Tambo warned us all the time," he said, referring to former African National Congress president Oliver Tambo, who had been quoted as saying "beware of the enemy within; remain vigilant".
Zuma, the current ANC president, was addressing the elective conference of the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans' Association (MKMVA).
He told delegates there were "alien tendencies" within the organisation. These were factionalism, lobbying for positions, ill-discipline, fraud and corruption, gate-keeping and bulk-buying of members.
"We shouldn't allow the organisation to be destroyed in front of our own eyes."
Zuma said people "burning the house in defence of those inside the house" should be stopped.
"There are people who don't like this revolution and are trying to destroy it."
However, even in the face of bitter, negative attacks the ANC had grown. During the ANC's last elective conference in Polokwane in 2007, the party had about 600,000 members, he said.
"When we [ANC leaders] finish this term as we are now, we will have fulfilled the desires of [past] leaders that when we celebrate the centenary we must be a million members. We are more."
Earlier, Zuma MKMVA members welcomed him, singing songs expressing their support for him to serve a second term as ANC president.
"We will walk with Zuma all the way to Mangaung," they intoned, while some held up two fingers, to signify a second term.
ANC Youth League deputy president Ronald Lamola was also at the conference.

Are you serious Mshiniwami ??? You are the very same person who is destroying the ANC of Tambo, Mandela and other voices of reason. How do you answer to your recent Inkandla wastage or looting of state money creating your rural kingdom, how do you explain instant wealth of your family members, how do you explain your refusal to fire Angie "Mazinyo" Motshega. How do you explain your free aquital of regarding your corruption charges, how do you explain your killing on poor miners in Marikana. Please Dr Shower, do the honourable thing and refuse to stand for second term.Report Abuse

This is called deflection, for this is exactly what his own supporters are doing and have been doing long before Polokwane. Talk about the enemy within!

Please don't fool yourself by thinking that those people love you as their leader. They just want to use you to loot and loot and loot. You know very well that there is nothing you have done for this country, except embarrasing us day in day out with your foolish decisions. Please do the honourable thing and go on retirement.Report Abuse

I recently stumbled across the topic of the ANC military camps e.g. Camp Quattro during The Struggle. Seefor example http://www.justice.gov.za/trc/.... There is a dark side to the ANC which we know very
little of. Prisoners in the ANC's Quatro camp in Angola were subjected to daily torture. The so called human rights hero Oliver Tambo visited these camps and new very well what was going on. "Mbokodo" is a book written by an ex-Umkhonto we Sizwe cadre Mwezi Twala, in collaboration with Ed Benard and gives an insight into the workings of the training camps of the ANC during the struggle. see http://www.militaryphotos.net/... He also tells how their own soldiers' needs were relentlessly ignored as they embarked on a road of physical and psychological torture. The ANC had no desire to pursue the interests of the public whom they were supposed to serve. The cadres suffered while the ANC leaders lived in luxury, defrauding their donors. If the ANC tortured their own soldiers on a daily basis, do you honestly think that they would have any scruples about enriching themselves at the expense of the masses?

Please Zuma, you're the enemy within, don't you know that? If you don’t know that then you need to put a huge mirror in front of you and stare at it until you see Malema's image, not yours.Report Abuse

PresidentDont u think we must stand against FRONTING IN SA. Where whites are still benefiting from tenders using black people as faces of their companies. Gardners, housekeepers etc..are all registered as partners by these white people. While we also need to stand against ORANIA, WE CANT HAVE A COUNTRY INSIDE A COUNTRY. They have their own currency and still use the k-word,h-word,c-word to non whites. Am sure ORANIA needs SOCIAL ENGINEERING TO BE A RAINBOW NATION WE ALL WANT. I wanna stay next to a Koekemoer and hear stories about MK and SADF in Angola.
