Armed residents halt housing project

Oct 12, 2012 | Yoliswa Sobuwa | 13 comments

CHAOS erupted in Chatty, Port Elizabeth, yesterday as two groups of angry residents pelted each other with stones and threatened each other with sticks and pangas over the stalling of a multi-million rand housing project.

What is it with our people? South Africa seems to be sinking into some form of collective insanity.

This is the lesson that people were taught after the lonmin strikes- use violence to get what you want in sa and you'll be rewarded with a 22% salary increase, so now everybody wants to be a revolutionary leader.

ROFLOL!!! South Africa...

Half of a community wants to intimidate construction project, and the other half wants it to proceed. Meanwhile, pangas and such are wielded.

What a joke.

This reminds me of Protea South residents(informal settlement ne). They closed off streets and protested against RDP houses. get it? This country of ours.

TF! is this Luvuyo fellow serious???

What matters here is that housing will be provided for FOR FREE. Clearly by tax money from THE WORKING CLASS, which you do not belong to!

What gives anyone the right to DEMAND people from their area be GIVEN jobs, even if a project is to benefit their area? Sickening mindstate of guerilla community "representatives" always wanting to be GIVEN sh!t... So what if Chatty has bricklayers and electricians? If they didnt make the cut or the main contractor, for the sake of quality control, refuses to make use of unskilled/unqualified labour or for cognisance of infighting within community members over jobs refuses to employ Chatty residents, its his/her prerogative!

Deal with it and wait for your FREE houses!
