Look at the price of removing God in our society under the so called democracy (which is really loose-dom if you asked me). Children do not pray at schools anymore; at schools children can not be disciplined by educators any more (corporal punishment was moved out of schools, apparently it affects the ego of children). Well, it is sad to say then that in 18 of practicing this loose-dom; lawlessness has increased; people's consciences have been seared with a hot iron as a result they are numb to pain they inflict to others or even observe.

I agree with you ,back in the late 80s i remember the documentaries they used to show us about the struggle in South Africa. From those documentaries i realized that most saffers were Christians because of the christian songs they mixed with their struggle song.It seems there was a major shift after 1994 in the mentality of younger saffers. They became free and decide to follow another route.
Religion promotes discipline and that is a fact.The atheists however live in denial and think that they can live without serving GOD.I grew up in a strict christian home and my siblings and i turned out very well.The same goes for my relatives,each and everyone of them turned out well because their parents put the fear of GOD in them.
The children of atheists however will not have such spiritual guidance because they do not know what a "sin" is.They fear no one so will do as they please.You are more likely to find a depressed atheist than a depressed christian . Atheists have no one to cry to in time of need ,they have no rock to lie on in time of despair. Christians however have hope and eternal faith which keeps them going and keeps them happy.Atheists worship success and money.
Many of these kids who commit these crimes have no dedicated parental guidance or spiritual guidance.They live in communities where GOD is not respected,where alcohol ,drugs,sex & partying is religion,where the elders lack moral fiber,where death is now a norm,where rape is now a norm,where no cares and where there are no role models. I think that, in some instances, religion does hurt. If we look at your homeland and the problems that differing religions has created, it can easily be twisted for evil. That was why I threw apartheid in there. If you pick and chose through the bible (or any religious text), you can pretty much come up with some kind of an excuse for any evil premise.
The concept of 'do ye harm to none' predates modern religions by a long way. That was my initial argument. Our ancestors were not degenerates with no morals at all, simply because they were not exposed to a bible. The social norms may have been codified by religious sects but it doesn't necessarily mean that following a religion makes someone a 'better' person. Report Abuse

However if you consider that there are no morals anywhere in the world that came up with Atheists; then you will realise why i made that statement. What they (Atheist) refer to as common sense; is not common at all. For instance today there is an article where a 25 yr old boy has admitted to murdering his girlfriend and he says that was a mistake. If we take religion and God out of society; then under which moral law do we convict a murderer? Surely not under common sense? Under common sense; we would have to accept that indeed human beings make mistakes and this boy just made his and let him go. The other thing I want you to observe is that all moral laws are universal and no reasonable person will argue against them.

I am not promoting the Bible or any Jewish religion. I was only throwing my 2cent around the issue of Religion.
However, ignore its teaching at your own peril. After all, we are all responsible for our own actions.
Lack of faith in anything has proven in some instances to be a weakness that produces no sweet fruit but pain.
Also remember that the book teaches everyone not to fear Death – if it is the life giver that takes life, why worry because he has the ability to give it back. Who would one struggle to survive in this system of things anyway?
Take a look at this blog for example – you can clearly see frustration from these comments and a cry for help. If no one believes that there is something better, then why are they making noise?
For as long we classify ourselves around religion, ethnicity, political association, etc.; we will continue to produce prejudiced.
You don’t need a philosopher to tell you how to live, you need yourself to admit to good and bad things. How? By simply treating others the same way you would like to be treated and that is based on Character.

I find that people who religious fear death so much that they always try to threaten us about death which is a natural process.
I find analyzing the bible and exposing it for what it is been so liberating and calming, I do not have superstitious beliefs anymore, I am not held at ransom.

I never said philosophers have to tell you something, I was referring to your statement that the bible teaches about love, so my take was that it not the bible only that does that, even other religions and philosophies do teach about love therefore if a book or person teaches about love that is a proof that they are passing on the message from God, or let me put it this way even before the arrival of Islam and Christian religion our people did teach and encourage love amongst themselves that too does not mean they were inspired by God. In short love is not the proof that the bible is inspired by God. I am not encouraging you to listen to philosophers neither do I want you to change your school of thought on matters discussed. Literature is simply plagiarism of ideas or someone else’s work. However, it’s up to one to accept or decline.
I for one am inspired by Love. Love brings joy in life and whether it’s the bible that teaches it or not, that is irrelevant for me because my Character is the one that defines who I am and how to live with others without them seeing me as a threat to them or their next of kin; that for me is what drives the joy in my life.
I also afford many thanks to Nature for giving this beautiful life to me. Being alive is amazing isn’t?
As for those that fight for superiority, that is their problem, not mine; whether be it Gods or them followers.
Life is easy and sweet for those that live not for pain – do not resist life, whether in life or death.
One can only be alive now, not today, tomorrow, etc.

That is what most of do, we are good and reliable neighbors, we even volunteer to charity , some amongst us have charities, so we live a fulfilling life, that is not a monopoly of faith, it depends on what your values are and how you view life, people tend to think that people like us because they do not talk to themselves with eyes closed then they live a reckless irresponsible and empty fruitless life.
Like I said I am content with what you are but that does not proof that there is a God or the bible is the truth.
Exactly what I said , you believers you claim not to fear death yet you are so obsessed with it , you cannot talk about religion or faith without referring to death, look broer, everyone dies and that is no worry to people like us. You think that people like us are loose and live a reckless life that is stereotyping as you talk from a position of preconceived ideas. I do not fear death and my understanding of death is quite settling and clean, you cannot fear something is painless, death is painless it is the state that is similar to when you were not conceived, before we were conceived we did not feel pain so, how can one fear such a calm state?

Look at the price of removing God in our society under the so called democracy (which is really loose-dom if you asked me). Children do not pray at schools anymore; at schools children can not be disciplined by educators any more (corporal punishment was moved out of schools, apparently it affects the ego of children). Well, it is sad to say then that in 18 of practicing this loose-dom; lawlessness has increased; people's consciences have been seared with a hot iron as a result they are numb to pain they inflict to others or even observe.The question is; how far down the road is this government willing to go for them to recognize that moral decay is eating away at our society????

@MGEEZI agree with you ,back in the late 80s i remember the documentaries they used to show us about the struggle in South Africa. From those documentaries i realized that most saffers were Christians because of the christian songs they mixed with their struggle song.It seems there was a major shift after 1994 in the mentality of younger saffers. They became free and decide to follow another route.
Religion promotes discipline and that is a fact.The atheists however live in denial and think that they can live without serving GOD.I grew up in a strict christian home and my siblings and i turned out very well.The same goes for my relatives,each and everyone of them turned out well because their parents put the fear of GOD in them.
The children of atheists however will not have such spiritual guidance because they do not know what a "sin" is.They fear no one so will do as they please.You are more likely to find a depressed atheist than a depressed christian . Atheists have no one to cry to in time of need ,they have no rock to lie on in time of despair. Christians however have hope and eternal faith which keeps them going and keeps them happy.Atheists worship success and money.
Many of these kids who commit these crimes have no dedicated parental guidance or spiritual guidance.They live in communities where GOD is not respected,where alcohol ,drugs,sex & partying is religion,where the elders lack moral fiber,where death is now a norm,where rape is now a norm,where no cares and where there are no role models.

Can a research not be done to see of those who rape, 1. Their level of education?. 2. do they have criminal records of any sort?3. what is lightly to trigger his mind to rape?
we read on magazines and TV about research showing how to loose weight fast or pleasing your man but we never see any research in detail about how to avoid being raped or for those that do how to overcome the trigger...
I hate how this is just taken like another stats figure that a woman is raped every 2minutes in SA but no one comes with solution instead we come up with all kinds of bill of rights to protect the rapist!!

9janavyI think that, in some instances, religion does hurt. If we look at your homeland and the problems that differing religions has created, it can easily be twisted for evil. That was why I threw apartheid in there. If you pick and chose through the bible (or any religious text), you can pretty much come up with some kind of an excuse for any evil premise.
The concept of 'do ye harm to none' predates modern religions by a long way. That was my initial argument. Our ancestors were not degenerates with no morals at all, simply because they were not exposed to a bible. The social norms may have been codified by religious sects but it doesn't necessarily mean that following a religion makes someone a 'better' person.

You are correct in your assessment of the problem with my statement!!! However if you consider that there are no morals anywhere in the world that came up with Atheists; then you will realise why i made that statement. What they (Atheist) refer to as common sense; is not common at all. For instance today there is an article where a 25 yr old boy has admitted to murdering his girlfriend and he says that was a mistake. If we take religion and God out of society; then under which moral law do we convict a murderer? Surely not under common sense? Under common sense; we would have to accept that indeed human beings make mistakes and this boy just made his and let him go. The other thing I want you to observe is that all moral laws are universal and no reasonable person will argue against them.
Surely then we need the universal restrainer (God) to instill such moral laws as we can not in our own wisdom do it; we will fail!!! The evidence is here for all to see.

@mgeezIf we get our morals from god, then are they morals because god says they are or because he is bound to them. If god said that its moral to kill babies then would it be good to kill babies? If god cant say that its good to kill babies then would it be because he is bound to outside moral laws that control him? Morals are inherent in all of us.
As for that man that killed his girlfriend, he knows that its wrong, his excuse for killing her does not take away from the fact that he harmed someone and therefore acted in an immoral manner.

Trying to comprehend the Bible and quoting scriptures is good but the bottom line is that, if one does not live according to those principles, he/she will not please God and therefore not a Christian.

Religion’s or rather the Bibles emphasis is on one’s character; acknowledging existence of God and finally accepting Jesus in order for you to attain eternal life.
The rest of the other accounts in the Bible bear witness to those who either Rebel or Accept HIM.
Trying to comprehend the Bible and quoting scriptures is good but the bottom line is that, if one does not live according to those principles, he/she will not please God and therefore not a Christian.
Only ones Character can change the world – that is driven by LOVE according to the scriptures.
Laws, according to History, were enacted only because there were rebels against certain values and/or norms in a community.

That part of the scripture talks about love does not proves they are not man made, because it is not only the biblical scriptures( in essence part of it) teaches or comment on love), the Buddhist, the Shinto, Confucious, Hindu, and many philosophies taught by the ancients, teach about love, morals, and inner strength. So we do not judge the book by one or two things that it teaches, we look at it in all angles. Therefor the bible as the truth failed the test of times, even some of Jesus's teaching cannot stand the test of time, just as some teachings secular or religious present and past do not stand the test of times, nothinng unique if you do not look at his speeches at face value.

If the bible is the letter that guides our worship and a book that introducese us to the Jewish-Europen version of worship, then we cannot ignore to question its teaching. It's credibility and authenticity. unless you expect us to accept dogma without questioning it.

If God is love how can He send bears to maul 42 boys for just a minor teasing which is childish, after that a man who claim that he lived with God before he was born by Mary, say let the children come to me because the kingdom of heavens is for people like children, when he saw God ki#liing 42 children who are suppose to be allowed to enter the kingdom of heaven. That is very contradictory. In Deut God forbids Isrealites from making a burning their children, yet he agreed to the promise of Japhta, that her daughter should be burned as a sacrifice, that is not love. There are a lot of scripture that reflect the dark side of this Jewish- European religion God which is totally opposite to love.

Lack of faith in anything has proven in some instances to be a weakness that produces no sweet fruit but pain.
Also remember that the book teaches everyone not to fear Death – if it is the life giver that takes life, why worry because he has the ability to give it back. Who would one struggle to survive in this system of things anyway?
Take a look at this blog for example – you can clearly see frustration from these comments and a cry for help. If no one believes that there is something better, then why are they making noise?
For as long we classify ourselves around religion, ethnicity, political association, etc.; we will continue to produce prejudiced.
You don’t need a philosopher to tell you how to live, you need yourself to admit to good and bad things. How? By simply treating others the same way you would like to be treated and that is based on Character.

BlackSeedI find that people who religious fear death so much that they always try to threaten us about death which is a natural process.
I find analyzing the bible and exposing it for what it is been so liberating and calming, I do not have superstitious beliefs anymore, I am not held at ransom.

I never said philosophers have to tell you something, I was referring to your statement that the bible teaches about love, so my take was that it not the bible only that does that, even other religions and philosophies do teach about love therefore if a book or person teaches about love that is a proof that they are passing on the message from God, or let me put it this way even before the arrival of Islam and Christian religion our people did teach and encourage love amongst themselves that too does not mean they were inspired by God. In short love is not the proof that the bible is inspired by God. I am not encouraging you to listen to philosophers neither do I want you to change your school of thought on matters discussed.

I for one am inspired by Love. Love brings joy in life and whether it’s the bible that teaches it or not, that is irrelevant for me because my Character is the one that defines who I am and how to live with others without them seeing me as a threat to them or their next of kin; that for me is what drives the joy in my life.
I also afford many thanks to Nature for giving this beautiful life to me. Being alive is amazing isn’t?
As for those that fight for superiority, that is their problem, not mine; whether be it Gods or them followers.
Life is easy and sweet for those that live not for pain – do not resist life, whether in life or death.
One can only be alive now, not today, tomorrow, etc.

Proven to whom and when? Or are you referring to the 42 children who were ki#lled because they lacked faith? Because I have there has never such evidence, people with faith , some die of hanger just like atheist, some of accidents, natural disaster, victims of crimes, diseases, they do not die different from us they are not immune to general problems that everyone might have in this world , so what prove do want to share with us that provides clarity on your statement that lack of faith has no sweet fruit but pain.

You think that people like us are loose and live a reckless life that is stereotyping as you talk from a position of preconceived ideas. I do not fear death and my understanding of death is quite settling and clean, you cannot fear something is painless, death is painless it is the state that is similar to when you were not conceived, before we were conceived we did not feel pain so, how can one fear such a calm state?
Believers cannot start and finish any topic without touching death, death is natural and painless you cannot worry about that, that will be futile to be concerned about.
