@Mawiki, I agree with you but I don't think the issue is about them or us its more about teh fight for meagre resources, everywhere in the world ppl are fighting over resources and those perceived to be outsiders are first to be discriminated, for the big part the gov should have ensured *(before opening the borders) that there are resources in place (budgeted for)to cater for hte influx, it is also a failure of AU that we have so many African refugees not only in SA but everywhere in the world, the AU needs to jerk itself up if it is to be taken serious. What you say about political refugees is true. The problem is that with the waiving aside of the laws the requires all undocumented refugees to be arrested and deported, there is no more a need for refugees to have a valid reason to be here, therefore, no need to identify them according to reasons why they are here.
A political refugee and a fugitive from the law are all welcome in their millions without consultation with locals in S.A.,regardless of what their impact is on S.A. communities.

How do you reconcile this fact with your claim? Why are the foreigners still here and not all dead or gone? Are they missing out on the xenophobia that you claim to"all know" about?
Instead it is South Africans that are persecuted by this foreigners.
You guys think that you can keep us quite and docile forever by always mentioning the magic word "xenophobia" to make us feel guilty about challenging the effects of illegal, undocumented and unplanned foreigners in our country. You are abusing the word xenobhobia.

Guys the survey actually shows that most of SA welcome foreigners, look at the results again! Only with regards to ‘Trust’ is the result negative, but who trusts anyone these days anyway? Consider the following:
1. If u go back far enough, every1 is a foreigner.
2. If all foreigners must go home, SA nationals working abroad all over the world will also need to go home.
3. Nationalities can change but nativity can never change. SA can become Mandeland tomorrow, Some Nigerians could become Biafrans tomorrow (just as some SAfricans today were Ciskeian yesterday), but Africans will be Africans forever, Zulus will always be Zulus, Shona will always be Shona, etc., that is the name God gave them and NO 1 can ever change that.
4. People of all nationalities have always migrated from creation & it won’t stop just now; which is why no nation is yet to be totally depopulated. If u make legal migration impossible, u make illegal migration inevitable.
5. I dream of a visa-less, borderless world where world leaders will work together to provide support for ALL destitute persons in the world regardless of their geographical location.
6. If every1 is taking sides in this debate I wonder which ones of u are the Christians I was with in church last Sunday in SA! Remember, when the Lord’s trumpet blows, nationality will disappear; whatever u do, secure your citizenship in heaven through love for all humanity. Do not lose your eternal inheritance because of a mere bowl of soup.
God bless u all!

@Prade101Which of the heinous crime being perpetrated by these evil organisations hasn't South Africans committed before, look at yourself in the mirror what you see is the combination of all the above mentioned organisations.
.............................................................................................................................
Just read carefully what you wrote above, especially the ....''hasn't South Africans committed before''.......South Africans don't go around bombing churches, learning institutions like your Boko Haram. Secondly, I am not saying South Africans don't commit crime BUT you have never heard anywhere wherever S.Ans are based that they have raped, they have robbed banks, they killed that country's farmers, selling drugs, hi-jacking and so on.
The number of South Africans in foreign countries jails is a drop in the ocean than the foreigners that are behind bars in South Africa for serious violent crimes, drugs or fraud !!!!!! Don't try to defend the obvious.

we can't be expected to be for criminals when we are against one another (not getting along with each other as SAns) so foreign ppl don't take it person, we are just a discriminative nation please accept this and move also accept my apology in advance for any discrimination as a result of your being a foreigner that comes your way.Report Abuse

May I also add that some foreign nationals have fled their countries for political crimes. How can we discriminate fugitives of the law from genuine refugees? It's difficult. Generally, I sympathize with refugees that fled repressive states.Report Abuse

@Mawiki, I agree with you but I don't think the issue is about them or us its more about teh fight for meagre resources, everywhere in the world ppl are fighting over resources and those perceived to be outsiders are first to be discriminated, for the big part the gov should have ensured *(before opening the borders) that there are resources in place (budgeted for)to cater for hte influx, it is also a failure of AU that we have so many African refugees not only in SA but everywhere in the world, the AU needs to jerk itself up if it is to be taken serious.Report Abuse

@MawikiWhat you say about political refugees is true.
Sad for legitimate political refugees who truely deserve our sympathy and help.

@SomaartakeitI agree with your view concerning the opening of borders without first planning and budgeting for our "guests". Now millions are expected to survive on their own in direct competition with locals and even at the expense of locals.
Thats my daily song of selfish and inconsiderate people who only made sure that they and their close families would be fine and then arrogantly declared the rest of the country and its resources, open for all by even waiving away existing controls.

NeterIn reality we all know that South Africans are the most Xenophobics people in the world.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No Neter, the reality is that South Africa has the highest number of illegal foreigners in the world and they dont live under 24/7 protection from "xenophobic" South Africans.
In your words "The most xenophobis people in the world" are hosts to the highest number of refugees in the world. Is that not a contradiction?
I actually wish all this foreign criminals thought like you, then most of them would not be here and some South African farmers and other people would still be alive,21 old women in Venda would go to their ancestors without being raped by an illegal Zimbabwean refugee.

@thandoluhleI respect your view but,pls cite some prominent incidents of all that inter tribal and inter provincial friction.
I think it would make your sweeping statement more credible than it sounds now really.

"The sentiments come from the fear of the unknown. We tend to think that people who are not from us can create some kind of danger" - Researcher------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr researcher, this sentiments actually comes from the FEAR OF THE KNOWN, not the unknown.
We know what most of this foreigners are capable of when they go scarvenging to survive. We see it everyday.
If it was a fear of the unknown,it would have been there when they first arrived, when we did not know what they are about.

Guys the survey actually shows that most of SA welcome foreigners, look at the results again! Only with regards to ‘Trust’ is the result negative, but who trusts anyone these days anyway? Consider the following:1.
