@ Hail, Ramaphosa bid a buffalo for aR18m cause he worked hard for it and he owns lot of farms doing animal farming, unlike those drag to court because they bankrupt a province, have no medicines, niks at all but are being supported and seeking iPads in front of court to submit responses to court.understand the system how government work, being rich doesn't mean give money to poor families but atleast donate to charity that will take care of the needy.

Not sure why the prospect of Zuma winning the ANC presidency excites you, I am yet to hear a coherent argument on what makes Zuma a good leader from you.

Given the amount of corruption in the party and looting of state coffers I am actually hoping he wins the presidency of the ANC. If he wins and the ANC fields them as their presidential candidate this will give us the public - not ANC members - the opportunity to be heard by passing a vote of no confidence against him or vote for another disastrous term under his absent leadership.

The corruption has gotten so bad we need to see arrests and prosecution of those involved starting from the top, this will not happen so long as the ANC is in power so I am hoping for a change in the ruling party so that we can start seeing people being held accountable for their actions.

Well said really.
He's principled because he believes that if a woman is wearing a kanga she is saying lets have s@x.
He's firm that is shown by his police force shooting to kill the same citizens they are supposed to protect.
He's humble because anyone saying anything about him, being true or not, that he does not like will be expelled from his personnal organisation the ANC.
He's considerate because while millions of South Africans live in poverty stricken shacks with no proper sanitation, water and stormwater drainage, he can afford to take from the taxpayers' money over R50. million a year for Goodwill Zwelithini and afford himself an over R200 million compound and then increase his salary while he is killing others who want the same increase to thiers.

@DJWinner - I will give credit to JZ for taking a strong stand against Malema - that was necessary because Malema was ignoring all attempts to instill discipline and left Zuma with no choice, if he did not want to see the ANC being regarded as mickey mouse with no discipline. He desrevs credit for that, but he has failed on so many other points that he cannot continue. Surely there must be someone else who can maintain discipline and also provide better leadership in general, or are we saying this man is the best we have to lead SA ?

In the run-up to the Polokwane conference in 2007, numbers were used to fool the faction supporting Thabo Mbeki into believing it would win. As branches nominated candidates, text messages flew across the country. Here is one of them:

"Comrades please receive the synopsis on the trends of bgm's (branch general meetings) across the various provinces. These numbers were valid as of Wednesday night & we are yet to update the analysis with bgm outcomes of Thursday & tonight. 1. In the E CAPE of the 258 bgms that have quorated 200 nominated TM & 58 JZ. 2. In Limpopo of the 135 bgms that have quorated 96 nominated TM & 39 JZ. 3. In N WEST of the 130 bgms that have quorated 116 nominated TM & 14 JZ. 4. In W CAPE of the 115 bgms that quorated 107 nominated TM & 7 JZ & 1 TOKYO. 5. In N CAPE of the 17 bgms 6 nominated TM & 11 JZ (it is instructive to note that 3 of our strongest regions Francis Baard, Siyanda & Namaqua are yet to start with bgms). 6. FS we r awaiting final tallies. 7. GAUTENG has just started but will monitor its progress. 8. Mpumalanga we are awaiting final tallies but not looking good. 9. KZN awaiting final tallies but not looking good."

As you can see, the Mbeki faction believed it was ahead. History shows that the numbers lied to them. This should be a lesson to those who support Zuma for a second term today. Many of them are smug and believe they have already won. They need to remember that many provinces and structures of the party say they support Zuma, but in places like Gauteng delegates are already saying they will not be dictated to when they arrive in Mangaung. It is, after all, a secret ballot.

How on earth do these politicians get those who live in shacks and go to textbook-less schools to be more concerned about who rules the palace over how we are going to get out of this mess we are in?

It is mind boggling over how much emphasize is placed on who rules the ANC. Neither Zuma or Motlanthe have clear plans or policies that they represent in order to solve this crisis. Voting for either is no better than voting for a rat that eats the remains of a decaying corpse.

The crisis in the ANC has been caused by Mothlante who has no leadership skills whatsoever; one who stood back while TB was being stabbed in the back by Malema!!! This guy has masterminded the leadership crisis in our movement and needs to go retire on a fence somewhere on his 7 month President pension for life!!!! Look at the people he is trying to surround him in his bid for election...Madikizela, Malema, Phosa, etc etc....he will just become Malema's little puppy dog if elected. Do we want this in Mzansi?

Relax everyone, things are going to be great after Mangaung.....Mzansi will ecperience greatness and peace again. Msholozi has had no opportunity to lead this country because he has been pre-occupied with internal ANC matters caused by those now on the limpopo slates!!!!

"As part of the PEC’s task of providing guidance to the African National Congress branches in the province it had chosen leaders who satisfied the character of the party, understood ANC policy, and could apply it under all conditions, Ndinisa said".

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

On the basis of what is written above, I agree 100% that this slate is a perfect one, although Pres Zuma's inclussion is only strategic, the rest of the members are most capable of taking the ANC out of its present situation. Let's put it in this way, Zuma is no longer going to be fully involved, he is going to deligate most of the responsibilities to Cyril Ramaphosa, just like Mandela did during his time as president, he deligated most of his responsibilities to Thabo Mbeki, preparing him to take over as he was planning to step down. I believe it is going to be the same with Zuma. Zuma has a better understanding of the ANC, its constitution and how it should be applied without fear, however, it is his poor judgement that lets him down and this has led to him making some of the most embarrassing mistakes. So my personal wish is for Zuma to win so that at long last we can have a president like Cyril Ramaphosa, i just wish Ramaphosa's deputy can be Trevor Manuel or Joel Netshitendze, these are people who understand the ANC better, they will never compromise the constitution of the ANC so that it can favour the people they like. Unlike Motlanthe who is a very good person by nature, but would compromise the ANC's constitution to favour Julius Malema and his gang.

My friend, Ramaphosa did not buy the Buffalo, he was bidding for it anyway but someone else beat him to it. It was bought by another bussiness man who paid around R22 million more than what Ramaphosa was prepared to pay. Ramaphosa has apologised for trying to spend R18 million on a Buffalo, in the face of many that are living in poverty. He has apologised even though it was his money and the Buffalo was an investment as it would make more Buffalos of its nature where he would again make millions of rands in profit.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So in shot you are saying the best way to stabilise the organisation is by electing a weak and corrupt leader who has led the country from crisis to crisis and does not have the balls to deal with an Angie Motsekga for example because of the votes she can bring him?

That logic makes little sense my friend; it is self-serving and will be bought by people who are naive enough. If indeed organisational unity is the primary consideration then you need someone who is not part of factions and has required leadership skills to guide the party back into a healthy situation. I can handle a Cyril Ramaphosa for example as president or better yet a Trevor Manuel who is probably the best candidate the ANC can field under the circumstances.

If you are genuine about your intentions the party would change its electoral system to one that is based on merit and not who your friends are and how are they going to benefit from your re-election. If you are genuine the party would sit Jacob down and discuss his performance frankly pointing out his many failures and why it does not serve the interests of the party and the country to have him as president for the second term.

Telling me you know he is useless and then pointing fingers at the other camp is not smart at all. You should concentrate on the damage he has done and what a disastrous prospect a second term would be as all indications are things will not get better if anything they will continue to go downhill from here. It has taken half-a-term for him to turn our country into a joke and you think giving him another full term is the solution. Come on bozza, you can do better than this and for the record this logic will work with a class of Grade 2s, not here.

No man not this chump again. Please can we have a leader who is 1) Educated 2) trustworthy 3) is not a sex maniac 4) has the nation in mind 5) can deliver a speech 6) is not an embarrassment to SA
This guy is a joke of a leader. He can go and lead with his king in Nkandla

There are very few if any in the current anc that conform to your criteria.

Hail
Ja ne! the guy has already bought a buffalo for R18 million instead of helping his own brothers and sisters in poverty! but Mpumalanga people trust him. As for the president for second term, ba tla go makatsa. What is happening @ Mpumalanga in terms of everything because it seems as there is nothing happening there that is why they do not know if ba yatla or ba ya tswa.

Maqhankqa
The leadership it had chosen were “beyond reproach in political and social conduct” and “principled, firm, humble, and considerate”.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The above statement says it all. Just NEGATE THE STATEMENT and all you will get will be epitomized by the conduct of these preferred crooks. By the way its befitting of Mpumalanga to think in such a manner

Rragwe
mpumalanga is full of mampara, they dont make any different in this country
******************************************************************************************************
Taking from the above statements that has been written by clever people from a province or provinces where there are clever people, if I read here the PEC has suggested these names and the branches will meet and nominate candidates which the PEC will combine and forward to the NEC.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Don't you get it, the country is going to the dogs with every day that passes and your so-called solution will lead to further chaos for everyone concerned.

The problem is you think the ANC is not going to lose any election, not sure about that. Do you have any idea how p-d off the public is with your useless Zuma and how many will not accept him having another go at destroying our country? Perhaps you may not lose this election but trust me with Zuma as the party leader and presidential candidate then expect the ANC to bleed votes.

Stability of our country and having a leader who has;
1. the required leadership skills,
2. who is intelligent,
3. who can lead the country without looting our coffers,
4. make illogical decisions and make decision that are in the interest of the country and its people, and
5. govern as a real leader should...

... is more important than internal ANC considerations and if you had two brain cells to think with you'd understand why a Zuma second term is stupid to put it mildly.

Enjoy yourself in Mangaung but keep in mind it is the rest of South Africa's population that will vote in 2014, be very careful of a public backlash. Never ever take the electorate for granted however stupid you may think we are.

Uza nge-logic ye two cents la and you have the audacity to tell me to sit down.

I just need a solution within the context of the current circumstances; we all know what the possible outcomes of JZ's election could possibly be!!!

I'll probably join you for a beer if the ANC sheds votes in the next election as this will be great for enforcing their accountability to the electorate amongst other things; but within the context of the circumstances this doesn't appear a reality!!!

What we need are solutions that address all problems. You don't solve a problem by creating a bigger disaster. Another Zuma presidency will make a state of affairs much worse, please explain to me how is this a solution?

As stated before I am hoping Zuma is retained as ANC president, I have long given up hopes of common sense prevailing within the ANC rank and file. The only way the ANC will learn is if they put the frustration of the man on the street to test. The good thing is there will still be a year and four months of further chaos leading up to Mangaung to make the public resolve even stronger. Hopefully then e-tolling will be a reality, all the factors needed to turn the electorate against the ANC and lead to a revolt through the ballot will be present.

Let's see how the public reacts then, I will personally campaign for votes to go to the DA so the message hits ANC leadership like a ton of bricks. Enough of this regressive thinking, we are not doing ourselves favours by electing the worst of us to important positions like these. You have no idea how p-d off it makes me that the country is held hostage by stupidity, we could not have done our country, ourselves and our kids a greater injustice. I can't even send my kids to public schools because Angie the Dragon is intent on destroying the little credibility our schooling system still had left.

"But if he is standing as president, we are prepared to agree

Why is it that provincial leaders are usurping the right of ANC branches to decide on leadership? ANC branches in Mpumalanga still have to deliberate on the leadership peferences and the PEC cannot pre-empt that. ANC branches are queens and kings now, and those who pretend that their preferences as provincial leaders are preferences by ANC branches are just deluding themsleves?

ANC BRANCHES IN MPUMALAMGA ARE STILL GOPING TO HOLD THEIR BRANCH GENERAL MEETINGS AND NOBODY INCLUDING THE PEC AND THEIR POLITICAL ASSASSINS CAN TAKE AWAY THAT RIGHT ENSHRINED IN THE ANC CONSTITUTION. We fought fo our rights as South African citizens, and we cannot allow Zuma factionalists to take away our constitutional rights as ANC members.
