Limpopo favours Motlanthe

Oct 9, 2012 | Sapa | 114 comments

The Limpopo ANC is in favour of Kgalema Motlanthe taking over as the party’s president at its conference in Mangaung, provincial secretary Soviet Lekganyane says

The province supported Tokyo Sexwale for deputy president and Fikile Mbalula for secretary general, Lekganyane said in a statement.

This followed a meeting of the African National Congress’s provincial executive committee in Limpopo on Monday afternoon.

The province recommended that Thandi Modise retain her position as deputy secretary general, and that Mathews Phosa stay on as treasurer general. The position of chairwoman should go to Thenjiwe Mtitso.

Lekganyane said the meeting unanimously decided on the top six positions in the ANC and nominated a pool of 85 national executive committee (NEC) members.

“Throughout, the province branch nominations have already commenced and so far all processes are going very well,” Lekganyane said.

Among those on the NEC list were Limpopo premier Cassel Mathale, Limpopo public works MEC Thabitha Mohlala, Limpopo treasury MEC David Masondo and Congress of SA Trade Unions general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi.

Nominations for candidates for the ANC’s top leadership positions opened at the beginning of the month. The national elections take place in at the ANC’s national conference in Mangaung in December.

Limpopo will send 574 delegates to the conference, out of the total of 4,103 delegates attending.

If Malema can tell the Limpopo PEC to do. 360 degree turn, they will do it without thinking. Good luck guys, but seems as if he will get the beating if he stands.

That is why I love ANC they move on with all the baggage to replace a baggage, Mathale for all people, this proves what kind of recycled leadership the mighty ANC has. replace a crook with gentleman sorrounded by irresponsible crooks, it's like saying I am tired of eating pap with potatoes and I would rather eat potatoes with pap, sounds the same to me except that the other plate is dominated with pap and the other with potatoes, but it's all carbs anyway. This is the kind of change we might get from 2300 delegates in Mangaung

Mathale is treading on thin ice. His only 'get out of jail' card is in his hands now. He had best be very careful which table he plays it at.

Whilst interesting, it is quite irrelevant as the horse-trading has already started and, by the time they get to Mangaung it will be a formality

DJ-Winner

Well, Zuma has won, ladies and gentlemen. KZN, Women's league and Mpumalanga are good enough. The next province will just be a bonus...

I told you people, I told you...

Hail

Let say he win @ Mangaung but will he win the national votes because not only delegates will be voting. Giving it to DA on the silver platter, will he able to forgive himself for that?
