A man has been arrested for killing his girlfriend and dumping her body in a rubbish bin in Jouberton, North West police said on Monday.

Captain Amanda Funani said the 23-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for killing 21-year-old Elizabeth Phokompe after seeing her with another man on Saturday.

Funani said the woman’s mother discovered the body when she went to look for her daughter at her house.

Her body was in a rubbish bin in the spare room.

Funani said the woman had been bludgeoned on the head with an unidentified object.

The man’s uncle apparently handed him over to the police.

He was expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
