No one is assured of a second term - Phosa

Sep 27, 2012 | Hlengiwe Nhlabathi Politcal Reporter | 95 comments

ANC Treasurer Mathews Phosa upped the ante from the hype that surrounded Julius Malema's legal matter, and launched a scathing criticism that no one in the ANC must be re-assured they will serve a second term.

Oh for heavens sake, is this senior ANC leader now trying to cosy up to the worst, most corrupt premier in the country ? Why, because of the Malema connection ?

Proof that the ANC leadership is just inherently morally compromised, they cannot turn the country around.

I Agree with you 150% Pheli-Marabi, we need such style, to interview/interogate the future president, we can't allow ANC few individuals to decide for the more than 20m members, we need to all take part so that if the chosen Leader fails, we blame ourselves not individuals, for now we can safely blame Zuma, Malema, Vavi, Phosa and all those for the poor Leadership we have in place. We need to demostarate democracy, not what we see now.

ABZ must be executed in Mangaung.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, we are not going your wishes we cant americanise our voting system according to us its 120% fine, for thefact that you dont have a membership card for your political party of your choice you want us to subject to your personal ambitions.

In actual fact there is no person who is not involved in the election of the President specifically the ANC nominations start from the branches, where you must belong as we speak, thereafter you have a right to nominate delegates to represnt your mandate to elect the candidate of your choice in the conference. Big one during national elections, every body who is above 18 yrs has a right to vote political party of his/her choice, I dont know what is the problem with you.

However, lazy people like yourself who cant shake themselves out of tvs when we are busy attending, discussing the programmes of this country in our branch meetings , make resolutions you come up with all sorts of nonsensical ideas.

My advice to you go to your nearest branch of the ANC join, get membership card and have a right to choose a candidate of your choice

Jacob Zuma's corruption charges were dropped by NPA, Kgalema Motlanthe is former NUM General Secretary and is so quiet when NUM is accused of ripping the miners with the invested funds and his life partner is also under investigation. Gwede Mantashe is always trying to redirect the confused ship under his control.Thandi Modise is struggling to return North West to its rightful place & its seems NWP has a gearbox problem. Matthew Phosa is remembered as the first Premier of the most corrupt province of Mpumalanga & seems ill disciplined.Baleka Mbete was found to have acquired fraudulent driver's licence & is now almost forgotten. No one is perfect and it is sad when JZ is treated as being the worst while all the top six are carrying different wagons of shame and failure now and in the past. Together we fall but united we stand. A divided top six exposes lack of quality leadership and opportunists in their midst. None of the above should be allowed to cause more damage in the ANC and the country.

The ANC is not controlled by an individual but the NEC and it is supposed to be governed by the Freedom Charter, of which it is not. The ANC youth league is talking expropriation of land without compensation whereas the ANC leadership has been compensating itself for the past 18 yrs through Cadre Deployment. Fikile Mbalula should also stop talking transformation in sports if they have not yet built sports facilities in black schools(Township and Rural). In 1995, the ANC government's first priority on Education was racism in schools as they were paving their kids way into white schools so they can get good education, as those schools were already well established, and come back to hold high positions in government. I agree with Makhosini, African National Confused.

@Dandan - can I try to explain something to you ? I will type slowly so that you can understand.

All wh.ite people did not vote for the NP, which was the party that governed. A substantial number voted against them, precisely because they did not agree with aparhtei.d. The main oppositon waas the PFP led by Helen Suzman. This party is the forerunner of the DA.

The NP in fact merged with the ANC.

The current leadership of the DA have got nothing to do with Aparthei.d, the leader Hlen Zille was a strong activist against it. Other leaders include Patricia De Lille, whose roots are in the PAC, Dr Wilmot James, a prominent ' coloured " intellectual, and Lindiwe Mazibuko.

The whi.te peolle who vote for the DA espouse nonracialism, and dedication to the constitution. in this they are joined by more and more bl.ack peopl every day.

So Dandan, get your facts straight and your mind clear. You are lost in the past. The future is something completely different.

Let me remind some people about who Matthews Phosa is really, especially those of you who might be fooled by these populist statements he is trying to make in public in support of Malema's illdiscipline behaviour. Matthews Phosa has always tried to find his way to the top using all means possible, i mean to the position of the president. In 1996, when Madiba stepped down to make way for Mbeki, he tried to challenge Mbeki who then had more support than him, and Madiba, after realising that there was going to be divisions in the ANC as a result of it, then told Phasa not to challenge Mbeki. After that, Mbeki sidelined him for the duration of his terms as he could not work with people he could not trust. It was clear that Phosa would work against Mbeki as he always had aspirations to become president. After Mbeki's two terms came to an end, in came Zuma who decided that it would be good to bring back those comrades that were sidelined by Mbeki then, and guess what happened after Polokwane, exactely what Mbeki feared when he was still president. Phosa is doing what he always wanted to do to get himself a better position in the ANC that will get him closer to his long held ambitions, even if he achieves that by causing divisions in the same party he claims to love.

This is exactely what Mbeki feared. Now Zuma is paying the price for resurecting the carriers of those that were dead politically during Mbeki's time as president. I strongly believe that even if Phosa has reasons to criticise Zuma, as one of the senior leaders in the organisation, he is aware of the procedures to be followed to do that. He is even trying to draw comparisons between Zuma's leadership and Idi Amin who killed dozens of civilians during his rule in Uganda. I think Phosa is trying to write his name in the good books of Malema and his illdiscipline brigade, who are living under the illusion that they are king makers, and as soon as Motlanthe is in power they will be accepted back into the ANC. My guess is Mr Phosa has dug his own grave politically, as he is already allienating himself from those who would vote for Motlanthe but still don't want Malema back. If this group can merge with the group that supports Zuma now, Malema and Phosa will be history in the ANC, because they seem to forget that amongst the numbers that support Motlanthe, there are those who don't want to see Malema back in the ANC, and the reality is, should Motlanthe beat Zuma by a smaller margin, it will be difficult for Malema to come back. This is because if the motion to reinstate Malema can be raised from the floor and they decide to vote, it is going to be Zuma's supporters, together with a group of supporters from Motlanthe who don't want to have Malema back, both of them against the motion to reinstate Malema, so the sooner Phosa realises this the better, as it seems like he is betting on a horse that is going to loose the rays.

STRAIGHTTALK3

Mr Phosa I think you are losing it all. Please try today to sit down with your family especially your wife, relax so that you come to your sences, then tommoror think about what made you go to exile, and the important role you played in reconciliation. After that think about the role you shoulb be taking in building up ANC. If you are a concerned father, you will definately consider this. Thank you.
