We need to revamp our African National Congress, and Msholozi, with all due respect Sir, I dont think you are the man to do it. Before you came into office, I had all the confidence in you, but it has'nt gone to plan now, has it??

So?
It isn't the public that chooses the president and the ANC doesn't care what the public think. It will be up to the branch leaders to decide, not the public.

By the way, are these the same twits who did a survey and decided that Cope would take 40% of the vote in the last elections?

Someone who did Stats in varsity would ask these questions 1) what is the Margin of error (MOE), 2) whats is the standard deviation on the poll conducted...

You can not make a conclusive statement or extrapolate on the survey conducted in urban cities and you only asked 2000 people out of 50 million people..that would be reckless.

Majority of South Africans live in rural areas where the kings and iziNduna are in charge...Survey like these are good for being posted on SOWETAN website so that bloggers can argue but will not give a true picture...

The sample size of 2000 out of 50 mil is significantly immaterial that one can not form an oppinion or conclude or extrapolate.

What I love about everything is people are becoming wiser everyday. My Grandfather is 89 yrs the last tym we talk politics he said to me " hey the wheel is really disappointing us" because when he was voting he always look for the sign of ANC that black wheel. That is where the majority people are, in the rural areas but now they become wiser by the day.

Stop waisting your breath and sanity. Zuma will remain ANC president beyond Mangaung. The ball is in Kgalema's court, he has two choices as things stand; either he contests Zuma and lose, meaning the end of his political career, or he stands with Zuma and Zuma steps down as President of the country and leaves Kgalema in charge, same as in 2008 when the two led from Union Buildings and Luthuli House respectively.

If Kgelema contests, then Zuma will beat him hands down. Zuma is neither a fool nor a coward, he is the only ANC leader who was prepared to go head on against Mbeki when others were cowering and wetting their pants in corners. These polls are 99% off the mark most of the time.

The ANC in its wisdom will retain both Zuma and Kgalema. Julius has damaged Kgalema's chances to a point of no return. No ANC leader wants to be elected by a bunch of anti-ANC rouble rousers. When Zuma was being hounded by Mbeki, Lekota and co, Zuma sought refuge in the ANC not outside the ANC as Julius is doing with the ANCYL.

Another issue here is that whoever allows Malema to lead his campaign to unseat Zuma is doomed to fall long before delegates head for Mangaung. Anyone who wishes to be taken seriously as an ANC leader must stand up and lead, not hide under Juju's belly. If Malema continues to lead the campaign, anyone elected as a result of such campaign will never lead the ANC since they will take their "orders" from Juju and Floyd.
We need a strong leader of Zuma's calibre who said upon his election in Polokwane that he "owed nobody". That is why, though very patient, he was able to tell both Juju and Vavi that he was in charge, not them.

This survey is spot on. It clearly shows that among those who speak isiZulu, Jacob Zuma has a commanding lead but Motlanthe leads in all the other categories. This is also confirmed by responses we see in this Forum with people like Mgwijikhwebu, Dandan and others refusing to accept the reality that JZ is definitely not the favourite. Looking at the numbers Kgalema Motlanthe can still widen his lead. While he is already leading Jacob Zuma there is still a large number of people who still have to make up their minds about him.Yet on the other hand there is large number of people who have made up their minds that they do not want JZ to serve a second term. A well-organised campaign by the ANC Youth League from the 1st of October should widen Motlanthe's lead over Zuma. It is amazing that Motlanthe is leading Zuma even when his campaign has hardly come out of the stalls. On the other hand, almost the only voice we have heard has come from desperate Zuma supporters. Kgalema Motlanthe does not have to come out and say that he wants to become the President of the ANC. Even now he can start making speeches to the effect that he serves at the pleasure of ANC branches and is prepared to serve the ANC in any capacity decided by the organisation's branches. On the other hand Jacob Zuma has always appeared desperate to serve a second term, with his supporters openly intimidating other ANC members and branches. Young people have to be bold and press the message home. Otherwise we are going to be stuck again with Zuma for the nexct five years even when he is clearly not the favourite. I expect a robust campaign for Kgalema Motlanthe every day from the 1st of October until Mangaung. Motlanthe is a disciplined member of the ANC waiting to be deployed by ANC branches. Come on guys, gird your loins! Let's go to work and make sure that we defeat the political Philistines.

I wonder whether these guys really did research. To crosscheck their findings, we have been also be doing community research that includes both rural and urbun areas. Our findings are a contrast with what these so called researchers got. Our results show that each and every month people interviewed still have trust in the current leadership. In January, 53% voted in favour of Zuma, in February 53%, March 52%, April 51%, suprising from May 59% prefered Zuma, June 64%, July 73%, in August 72%. However those for September which are still in progress show that 79% of people who are voting are in support of Mr Zuma.
