THE South African National Defence Force is on the verge of collapse - unless there is drastic intervention.

Does the Shaik ring a sound in you? Durban will protect us. Let's look at this, Botswana is weak militarily, zimbabwe is cashless just asked for $100000 then Mozambique we married a wife there nobody attacks a son in law if he treats the wife well then Namibia we fought with them. Our enemy will get in by the side of cape Town, those guys there won't let them in there is lot of wine they will get drunk. In Durban we give them Currie with lot of spices they will be hungry and we kill them simple.Shaik is there also.

RSA no longer has an army. They have a bunch of fat useless over paid slobs that could not defend this country if they tried.
If we stopped sending them for "holidays" in other country's as part of United Nations Peace keeping, then we would have sufficient manpower for our country and if good old army discipline was introduced,perhaps we could have a fighting force to be reckened with.
But as long as we have the good old ruling party, the army will simply deteriorate like all the other systems and institutions in this country.

Mr Papage another black racist "How much are the Black Soldiers salaries" these pages are filled with black racists, they are not capable of seeing that the problem lies with the black racist ANC government, the utter contempt that it feels for the citizens of this country by its ongoing corruption scandals, incompetence and inability to govern in a responsible manner.

How do you expect an Army and Police personnel to protect the whole country whereas they fail to protect a few in their radius?

Politicians are like both soccer players and journalist; same questions and answers for decades, yet same problems.

Incompetent politicians is where it starts. An army with a union.....what a joke. South Africa is on a slippery slope, the politicians are stealing her blind. Look North to Nigeria to see SA in 10 years (collapsed infrastructure corrupt business dealings only dealing with natural resources, no manufacturing, no entreperneurship, corrupt politicians, sectarian fighting)....look North to Sierra Leone, Congo and Liberia to see South Africa in 20 years (warlords fighting, no government to speak of no law and order, no infrastructure people reduced to eating rats to stay alive).

@4man,

You are so correct - but the real frustration is that the South African people have the privilege of voting for a ruling party - the power is in the hands of our citizens - not like many of our other African states.

I can bet you there are people who have commented here who still vote for the ANC. When you point a finger at someone else, then there are 4 fingers pointing at you(citizens) !

Those who have stopped voting take no responsibility for this country - just like the Zimbabweans did - the Zimbabweans decided it's easier to flee to South Africa. But where will we go ? Our only weapon is our vote - but it might be too late. If another political party takes over, then they have to first pay back the debt created by this party - it wil take 4 years of suffering to get back on track. Last night I saw Bushbuckridge owes Eskom R280 million ! Where has all the money gone to ?

I'm not surprised. If you don't know the value of a rand how will you cope if the budget is simply increased? Overspending will remain a problem. With the previous government, the SADF was rated among the best in the world, now we are a laughing stock. The SANDF is a joke. Merely a holiday inn used by people to incompetent or stupid to get a real job. SADF was about serving and defending. SANDF is about getting paid to do nothing; or funding tertiary studies for almost immediate use in the private sector after quiting. Moffdat is right, our soldiers, especially the woman are not ready for war. Most are physically unfit, the others untrained or just slacked off during training and therefore useless. The accuracy of our average infantryman is horrifying, my platoon was forced to get our marksman badges (skutsman baldjie) or get permanent "paal PT" and latrine duty. Some soldiers were present at a shooting range the SAPS and some private individuals frequent. We regularly put the police to shame on the range and during combat shooting exercises (hence the police interest in the range); but the way the infantry performed was a freakshow (they made the SAPS look like US navy seals, and trust me most cops on that range are bad with guns). Their idea of snapshooting is to aim at the target for half a minute and then shoot, LOL. They actually aimed down the barrel of a shotgun at a target 20metres away, you don't need to aim a shotgun like a hunting rifle when the target is right in front of your nose. And their officer though he was going to show off their talents. If SA were ever to be attacked by another country, we wouldn't stand a chance, hell even Lesotho can kick our asses.
