I wonder which bird lost its feather, was the bird not harmed when its feather was plucked out? How cooperative was the bird, or was the feather forcefully removed? How big is the bird that could produce such a long feather.
Much as I am no Zulu, I respect King Shaka's role in his quest to unite all of Southern Africa and his desire to conquer the rest of Africa.
Our young only know King Shaka as a "cruel" man because this history was narrated by the enslavers and colonizers, the same people King Shaka fought against when they tried all tricks in the book to lie, cheat and steal.
This reminds me of one Winston Churchill who when told that "history would judge him harshly" retorted like: "History will be kind to me since I intend to write it". Indeed history has been kind to Churchill since history is written by the victors.
Those who enslaved, maimed, murdered and colonized should hang their heads in shame for distorting history. King Shaka, King Nghunghunyane, King Sekhukhune, King Makhado, King Moshoeshoe, King Hintsa and many more are heroes who fought to retain the land and all our resources in the control of the natives of this land.
@Imbabazane, I agree with you 100%. European imperialists and crusaders are held in high esteem although they butchered hundreds of thousands in their quest for domination. The only black leaders that are "held in high esteem" by the enslavers, colonizers and discriminators are those puppets who sold out. Report Abuse

Did you people read the response below from one of Zelithini's induna's:
"Albert Mncwango, an induna of Zwelithini's, said Holomisa should "stay out of our business" and said the implications of his complaint "smacks of racism".
"Zulus have a distinct history and pure bloodline and cannot be compared to other kings," he said.
Poverty in the province was the government's responsibility and was not Zwelithini's problem.
"If it is good for Prince Harry to splash million of pounds on luxury hotels, why is it wrong for our king to spend the night in a five-star hotel?"
@JohnStone, lets not be blinded by our loyalty or patriotism for SA, Shaka was an aggressive ruler, he went about war to archive his goal, other kings like Mosheosheo manage to archive thier goals through peacefull means, half of the Basotho Nation was formed from Difaqani which were displaced by Shaka's war, tribes ran for thier lifes running aways from Shaka and his men let's not ignore this and act as if what he did was great. When Shaka heard about most of the Difaqani who seeked refuge and assimulated into the Basotho nation he waged a war against Mosheosheo which he lost and the Basotho king after his defence he sent Shaka a peace gesture which Shaka ignored and he sent Mzilikazi and his Ndebele men whom also failed, after failing Mosheosheo also sent a peace gesture to Mzilikazi and men along with food for the long trip home, it was Moshoeshoe who tried to convince Shaka of an alternative by forming Peace between all tribes within SA, Shaka saw these as weakness and sort aggressive means to archive his goal on one tribe ruled with the ion fist. Listen here Gusheshe, Shaka's strategy of achieving unity was formed, defined and shaped by the era in which he lived, same as those who came from other continents to conquer Africa, their strategy took form, shape and definition as dictated to by the material conditions of that era, hence I agree with Imbabazane on the very fact that those who killed more and committed gruesome atrocities around the world as compared to King Shaka are today held in high esteem although if they lived today, they would have joined Charles Taylor at the Hague.
Potraying King Shaka as cruel, agressive and a warlord is a distortion of history. Please do not allow the size of big books written about Africa to castrate your brain, otherwise you will start talking like others whose brains were castrated by the big books they read, Pityana comes to mind?

@MGEEZ,
Stop fuelling fire unnecessarily. You think like a typical bitter tribalist. Firstly, Albert Mncwango is not an induna for His Majesty, he is the IFP leader.
Secondly, I red the same story from Isolezwe (IsiZulu newspaper - also accessible through IOL), and Mncwango merely stated kingdoms differ and are unique in each and every province. Further, he stated it is unfair and discriminatory of Pathekile Holomisa to single out Zwelithini and decrying "special treatment" he is getting.
Indeed Holomisa is just bitter and jealous, I guess he fancies to see himself enjoying the same privileges as king Zwelithini, forgetting that he is just a mere chief, and not a king.
Instead of blaming other provincial governments for mistreating and neglecting their kings, Holomisa decided to aim for king Zwelithini. The question is is that fair? Why if other people forsake their own monarchies anger is vented at others instead of confronting the real culprits. It is quite clear that he is just a bitter man like most who have been taking cheap shots at the Zulu royal family over the past couple of weeks.

This is why you are given history of a conquer instired of a civilized African, why do you think you are only tought about Shaka in most cases, even overseas they know more about Shaka than any king in Africa, why do you think that is so?
Thabo Mbeki part of his African Rene'sons was to reclaim our history and to show we also had intelligent Kings and chiefs, which is why he setup the Mohlomi Academy after king Mohlomi. King Mohlomi had a leadership institude which kings like Moshoeshoe attended, this was a time we are told we were uncivilized and had no knowladge system. The African Sage Mohlomi proves this notion wrong in that he tought Moshoeshoe and other young Kings , his philosophy was to teach Africans that they was only one God( Ra'masedi) and that the true nature of man is that of love, peace and light, he tought his students to great by saying Kgotso le kganya hao a'parele( my Peace and light be apone you), this are principle that King Moshoeshoe embodied during his rule of the Basotho nation, Shaka never embraced this philosophy, again read Difaqani history before you praise Shaka... MGEEZWhen did the 25 September become shaka day??????????????
Well it was Shaka day in KZN but the IFP demanded that it be put into the national holiday schedule in 1984 so they called it Heritage Day to avoid the obvious fall out over tribal issues. Before that, there was no holiday on 25th Sept

There is no way you can unify the very rich and the very poor, how do you do that? this is an upnormal society we are living in. We have the Political connected who are enjoying the Fruits of Freedom we all fought for and we have those worriors who fought for Freedom and are poor and sidelined and you expect us to be happy and united? that is bull, Take a look at your own people deep down in the rural areas, they share water with cattles, they are so poor their kids dont attend any schooling, they know nothing about school, no Id's and you want us to unify, please come up withh better solutions as a King to help the blind Government moreso yoour brother Zuma who is the President of the Country, he need help, he need wisdom, for now, he is confusedReport Abuse

I wonder which bird lost its feather, was the bird not harmed when its feather was plucked out? How cooperative was the bird, or was the feather forcefully removed? How big is the bird that could produce such a long feather.Much as I am no Zulu, I respect King Shaka's role in his quest to unite all of Southern Africa and his desire to conquer the rest of Africa.

@AllDid you people read the response below from one of Zelithini's induna's:

When Shaka heard about most of the Difaqani who seeked refuge and assimulated into the Basotho nation he waged a war against Mosheosheo which he lost and the Basotho king after his defence he sent Shaka a peace gesture which Shaka ignored and he sent Mzilikazi and his Ndebele men whom also failed, after failing Mosheosheo also sent a peace gesture to Mzilikazi and men along with food for the long trip home, it was Moshoeshoe who tried to convince Shaka of an alternative by forming Peace between all tribes within SA, Shaka saw these as weakness and sort aggressive means to archive his goal on one tribe ruled with the ion fist.Report Abuse

@Tabza325isListen here Gusheshe, Shaka's strategy of achieving unity was formed, defined and shaped by the era in which he lived, same as those who came from other continents to conquer Africa, their strategy took form, shape and definition as dictated to by the material conditions of that era, hence I agree with Imbabazane on the very fact that those who killed more and committed gruesome atrocities around the world as compared to King Shaka are today held in high esteem although if they lived today, they would have joined Charles Taylor at the Hague.
Potraying King Shaka as cruel, agressive and a warlord is a distortion of history. Please do not allow the size of big books written about Africa to castrate your brain, otherwise you will start talking like others whose brains were castrated by the big books they read, Pityana comes to mind?
Remember, our history was written by..you-know-who.

I doubt people here read about Shaka's history. Most just watched the movie uShaka Zulu and thought that what Shaka was all about. I challenge all of you to read more about him. World wide Kings and Queen are supported buy the state, so I dont see anything wrong about taxpayers money being spend on Isilo samabandla, ungangezwe lakhe. If the state was owning the mineral resources they'll fund him from the state's money but since they don't it's got to be taxpayer's money. Amen, Ubuntu to the People of Umzansi.Report Abuse

@MGEEZ,Stop fuelling fire unnecessarily.

@JohnStone, "Remember, our history was written by..you-know-who."This is why you are given history of a conquer instired of a civilized African, why do you think you are only tought about Shaka in most cases, even overseas they know more about Shaka than any king in Africa, why do you think that is so?

@MGEEZi read that with dismay on news24, if this is the mentality that zulus carry in their empty brainless retarded heads then we have a serious problem in SA. The hope here will be change of the leadership in the ANC and hopefully people will be perceived and treated the same, as for now we are held ransom by this zulus..... very unfortunate situation, but the downfall of all this looting is looming whether the man gets second term or not. .
