She saw her mother was suffering providing for her then she goes and gets 4 kids?
I only feel sorry for the little ones because they are innocent in all of this.

ZeMadam, point taken, but she droped out at Grade 9, my daughter is ni grade 7 like now, and she knows all about this contraceptives, Aids, Sex, infections all. I did not have a proble if she had 1 or 2 kids, but i have a problem when she has 4 kids. Her boyfriend works, surely he would have a slightes idea of family planning. Though it is not mentioned where he works, but even if he works on the same farm, people talk and information is passed either formally or informaly. There is no reason that when she was at school she never heard of such things. This woman has every reason to blame lack of access to resources as one blogger stated....you have to empathize with her.
Look, bra...don't get me wrong..I'm not heartless - and it's probably crying over spilled milk asking why wasn't she taking better care of herself and being more responsible - but now 4 kids are brought into a situation that's beyond their doing and it's most probably going to be a cycle rearing its ugly head with them too! My heart goes out to those kids, more that they do for her...cause she should have known better - resources or no resources!

Maybe what the Government should do is to consider coming up with a programme to perform tubal legation to girls between let's age 10 and 21 but offer grants to all the girls who will be prepared to voluntarily undergo the programme throughout the period (less say 10 year period). Further to this the government can offer special tertiary bursaries to all the girls that had their tubes tied or were part of the programme. ZeMadam, point taken, but she droped out at Grade 9, my daughter is ni grade 7 like now, and she knows all about this contraceptives, Aids, Sex, infections all. I did not have a proble if she had 1 or 2 kids, but i have a problem when she has 4 kids. Her boyfriend works, surely he would have a slightes idea of family planning. Though it is not mentioned where he works, but even if he works on the same farm, people talk and information is passed either formally or informaly. There is no reason that when she was at school she never heard of such things. This is a portray of a life of a orphan girl in the farm. 4 kids at her age shows that she has been abused at a younger age and i am dissappointed by some comments from women. There are no clinics in the farms for staters and she is a 24 year old drop out who lost her parents at a younger age meaning that no one was there to guide her. I do not understand why we so judgemental about this girl while the article itself does not give much details of the girl circumstances. yes its messed up to have 4 kids at 24. but the girl left school at grade whatever and lives in farms. all of you who are preaching contraceptives, go to rural clinics and see if you will find those. and we must know by now that in rural areas not all people have access to clinics and medical services. and schools in rural areas, grade 8 might have equivalent effect of grade 1 in urban areas. i am not saying sympathise with the girl but instead of dissing here try to look at the wider political-economy of south africa before you hold the higher moral ground. just because you lucky to have receiveed good education, medical access and so forth doesnt mean you ha ve to be a jerk to the plight of rural poverty in this country. stop being urban-centric.Report Abuse

I so feel for this young girl, she is making mistakes her mom made and is leaving in poverty with five children. I think we should not be so hard on her. The children are suffering. I cant stand seeing a suffering child, a child never asks to be brought in this world.

The only way to survive for this gals is by depending on men, its they way their parents lived so to them thats the correct way. Most of this kids are in vat n sit as early as 12/13 yrs, and if 10 ppl are staying in a 2 roomed house its a relief to parents if 1 of them moves out. Maybe what the Government should do is to consider coming up with a programme to perform tubal legation to girls between let's age 10 and 21 but offer grants to all the girls who will be prepared to voluntarily undergo the programme throughout the period (less say 10 year period). Further to this the government can offer special tertiary bursaries to all the girls that had their tubes tied or were part of the programme.
