DISGRUNTLED and famished, a community of mostly former farm workers in North West claims they have been abandoned after the farms they had worked and lived on were sold to the Bafokeng nation.

The Royal Bafokeng Administration now owns the land, but does not farm the land? This meant that they knew all along that those workers would be without work and lost to the farming industry when they bought it. Why did they not continue farming? Why did those farms go to waste? This does not make sense at all.Report Abuse

If we want proper resolution to these issues we need to be very honest with ourselves as Africans... we are failing to manage the country and even simple farms. Let us admit that and work on fixing it. In Tzaneen there are similar farms...Report Abuse

@Moffdat - the principle is that productive farmland was handed to people without the necessary planning, proper transfer of skills etc, and it was f.cked up. Take a pill for you sore toe, even if you can't get medicine for your irrational hatred for w.hite people.Report Abuse

Ohk Sinudeity, I dnt want to blame farmer (seller) and the buyer.
But if you can answer the following question for me:
Is there any Pension money farmers gave to this poor people?
Is there any Provident funds farmers gave to this poor people?
Are these poor people being registered for UIF by their farmers?
REMEMBER IM NOT BLAMING, JUST MY THOUGHTS.

|Sinudeity|
Smaiza - Legally, only the UIF you mentioned is required by the farmer. Pension/Provident funds, medical aid, would depend on the agreement between the farmer and the worker. Taking into account, that the worker would have to pay half for P/P or medical aid.But lets look at it this way.
Working for farmer, had a job, and received pay.
Not working for farmer, no job and no pay.

I understand your point, but still how much these poor people were getting paid?
Sinudeity- Even before the farmer was purchased, these poor people did not leave better. The evidence is the farmer did not have proper sanitation according to the article.

South Africa, a once great country that is now being destroyed by it's own native people out of greed ,selfishness, stubbornness and acute stupidity. The current situation of this country is heartbreaking. As much as i will like to stand up tall and defend Africans ,i can no longer live a lie.We Africans have failed woefully as a continent ,a people and a race.52 countries blessed with natural resources but we still continue to live like paupers. We can not even manage our households talk less of managing a country.Maybe we are indeed cursed as a race.It is high time we sit and talk to one another. We need to admit our failure and work on fixing even if it mean allowing another race to run our nations in the interim because that is one thing we just can't get right.
I watched a rick ross video (Hold me back) on Youtube yesterday which was shot in Lagos Nigeria. The video has caused controversy on Tweeter and Facebook. Many Nigerians took offence to video but i did not because the video exposed the realities of the country. The truth must be told about Africa if we want to progress as a race.Due to all these self imposed problems facing SA right now ,i have started making back up plans to migrate elsewhere.I thought SA will never fall like this but i am starting to see the writing on the wall and i don't want to be here when the sh1t really hits the fan.I love this country and i feel so sad that it's own citizens who fought for their own freedom with sweat & blood are now intentionally sabotaging their own country.
Here is the video i am talking about :

You took the words right out of my mouth. All my people are good at is making babies ,getting drunk and lazying around. They worked on those farms for decades but are too stupid to use the basic farming skills they learnt to operate a garden farm around their homes which will feed them and their multitude of kids. (sigh)You know what? I have had enough,i give up on black people. All we do is point fingers,no initiative ,no common sense, just a "give me" mentality.
