RABIES is under control in Gauteng, agriculture and rural development MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza said
"Since the Fourways scare, but also since the death of the little girl, Gauteng has really been able to control rabies," she said.
Mayathula-Khoza said it was compulsory for all cats and dogs to be vaccinated against rabies, and failure to do so was illegal under the Animal Diseases Act of 1984.
September 28 is world rabies day and there will be free vaccinations across the province.
