Let see. I will reserve my comment on the national anthem, especially in 2012 after 18 years of democracy.

Blind leading the blind. sham

Our police members wants to be poloticians. When I questioned why the police services was turned into a South African Police Army Services. Now, here is the poblem, soldiers are supposed by the nature of their duty to be apolitical. Now if SAPAS, wants its members to occupy political office, how are they planning to be objective in the execution of their duties?

In the absence of good leaders, mediocrity, incompetence reign supreme. Indeed, things fall apart.

These are the people with the most ridicilous and inconsiderate views. I always thought that the mix of the national anthem was something to be proud of. My 3-year old can sing the WHOLE anthem word for word and she is Afrikaans.

I hope and pray that they are only a minority. I hope and pray that the majority of South Africans (black and white) are level headed and not filled with hatred. At least then I have some hope for us all.

Lord, bless Africa;
May her horn rise high up;
Hear Thou our prayers And bless us.

Chorus

Descend, O Spirit,
Descend, O Holy Spirit.

Bless our chiefs
May they remember their Creator.
Fear Him and revere Him,
That He may bless them.

Bless the public men,
Bless also the youth
That they may carry the land with patience
and that Thou mayst bless them.

Bless the wives
And also all young women;
Lift up all the young girls
And bless them.

Bless the ministers
of all the churches of this land;
Endue them with Thy Spirit
And bless them.

Bless agriculture and stock raising
Banish all famine and diseases;
Fill the land with good health
And bless it.

Bless our efforts
of union and self-uplift,
Of education and mutual understanding
And bless them.

Blot out all its wickedness

The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah

I think Popcru should start with its house first, for instance you go to the Police Station to open a case using you home language, the police will write what you are saying in English or Afrikaans which they them self don't know & you end up losing a case base on what they wrote.

@Illuminated, actually the evidence so fer points to Africa and specifically South Africa (craddle of humankind) that this is where the early homo species originated.

Also we cannot ise the psalms as our anthem SA is not a christian state.

Oh My God... Really? Popcru wants this, but they can not protect the people? I like the anthem as it is, it stand for our diversity and all our languages. How would they enforce such a thing anyways? Imprison an entire stadium for singing a few lines of Afrikaans? This is why other countries laugh at us, we can not supply we can not protect but we demand stupid things. Got to love SA.

Typical from a group representing some of the most corrupt, ill trained and downright dangerous individuals in this country. Why don't you rather focus on improving the training and morals of your members, I think this is your reason for existing, not to comment on our national anthem.

what do they know about national anthem? Its Vavi again and his thiefs. They have not addressed the mine issues now they start with national anthem, the popcru members killed our brothers in Marikana has Vavi addressed that? They cannot handle Malema now they target the soft targets.
The police instead of talking about your working conditions you talk about what is going to promote Vavi and his thieves, what mentality is that, there are police stations with no police cars, instead of you police asking for good vans and cars (BMW,4X4) you talk about national anthem which you do not even know its origin, that is going to invite bad bad bad comments. How many cases or places or people have you not reached and help them? This group of people called police are not innocent as they appear. There are cases where people have called for help from police and their properties have been burglared and people have been injured but these police never come and they say we have NO CARS but today they talk about national anthem. Dear Popcru
what does the national Anthem has to do with your struggles or any of your existence? You failed to oust Vavi now you want to cause discomfort and instability in the country! Where will having Die Stem and English part have in achieving a United and Progressive South Africa?

Why fiddle with IT if its not broken? What are your aims guys? We need each other both Black and White...what are you driving at? This is National Anthem not Marikana please leave our Anthem alone!!!

Popcru is way out of line! I will tell you something that the should have prevented: Police not to be turned into military, Cut the two acts in their envrioment. i.e Police Act and Public Act to be one act, talk about growth in the ploice, talk about training of the police the list is endless! Do they know the meaning of rainbow nation? are they sulking that the leadership of cosatu has not change hence they were looking at the position with hungry eyes?
The police department is in a mess! go and fixed it and leave politics to politician. Why do people paY this st#pid union. In your dreams, we love it as it is as it represent rainbow nation.

I REALY FAIL TO UNDERSTAND LEADERSHIP IN THIS COUNTRY. SEEMS A PERSON GOES TO BED, HAS A STUPID DREAM THEN WANTS TO IMPLEMENT IT THE NEXT DAY. LEADERSHIP, WETHER IT BE ANC, DA, POPCRU, COSATU ETC...... SHOULD BRING TOGETHER A BEYOND DIVIDED NATION AND NOT PUSH PEOPLE EVEN FURTHER APART.

@MGWIJIWATWAT, WHAT ARE THEY SPOT ON ABOUT?????? AS AN AFRICAN IN THIS COUNTRY I SOMETIMES THINK WE ARE HYPOCRITES, WELL ATLEAST SOME OF US. WE TEND TO INFRINDGE ON THE RIGHTS OF OTHER RACES WHERE AS THE MINUTES IT IS DONE TO US WE CRY RACISM.......... AS MUCH AS WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO PRESERVE OUR HERITAGE SO DO OTHER CITIZENS

and yes the truth is Afrikaans was born here, JV Riebeck spoke Dutch not Afrikaans, same way as a language known as Sotho now, is similar to a language spoke in Zambia, which is where Sothos ( probably Ngunis as well) came from ......meaning in SA only Khoisans can claim to be original inhabitants.......we all immigrants, we cannot alter the truth to suit our needs......history talks a lot about people from east and central African migrating towards the South.....

Lozi, is the language and below is the history behind it
The Kololo were a Sotho people who used to live in what is now Lesotho. The Kololo were forced to flee from Shaka Zulu's Mfecane during the 1830s. Using tactics they had copied from the Zulu armies, the Kololo conquered the Luyana on the Zambezi floodplains and imposed their rule and language. However, by 1864 the indigenous population revolted and overthrew the Kololo. By that time, the Luyana language had been largely forgotten; the new hybrid language is called Lozi or Silozi and is closer to Sesotho than to any other neighbouring languages in Zambia.

After the Civil War, we'll all go back to Nkosi Sikelele... All 'die stem' enthusiasts can go on the Drommedarris, Reiger and Goode Hoop (dead wood) and sail to oblivion. A big sign should be put in all entry ports: NO RACISTS WANTED!!!!!

@ Skwamasamabele your comment is racist. If you state no racist allowed but whish all the Whites to sail to ablivion how do you suppose that this is not deep racism in its self. You see i love the comments on this site where people insult other races but back it up by we dont want racism when ifact the racist is writing the comment. The Stem was not a comprimise. It was an agreement to hand over the land without a war. It was a devided nation who came to an agreement. To remove this means the the agreement was in fact a lie from the ones calling for its abandoment.

Both songs are about South Africa its people it beuty. It is about being blessed by God and ensurign as patriots we will die protecting our country . It calls for Unity. We tend to forget the sacrifises made my whites to ensure freedom as much as we forget the sacrifises made by blacks for the same cause. Unity stopped with President Mandela as capitilism at the cost of unity took over.

We could in this country have been much futher if nation building was core to our believes. It obviosly was high jacked when things went wrong and devide and rule took place to ensure power. Power has been kept at the cost of peeople. Reconsiliation and love has been lost due to political weakness.

It is a shame that POPcru does not focus on its members welll being. It is time this country leaves Unions out of poletics. We need to eave religion, race and gender out of of poletics to as politics is about managing the well being of this country. All races, religions and genders should be given equal respect. It need not be forced but when visions of leaders such as Mandela is lost by nation deviders out to stay in power afor the sake of their own poacket we get lost. We are lost because we rather see the downfall of each of the above groups instead of finding sollutions to our devide. We seek no more nation building. It has been replaced by seeking the down fall of our sisters our brothers and our neighbors who make up this beutifull country. South Africans are being led as sheep instead of being led by their hearts. One person screams its white mens fault, the next shouts it is black mans fualt. Then we state it is religion etc and we have a big cocktail missing deviding our nation.

Sorry but i love you all. You frustrate me at times but you all my South Africans brothers and sisters. Should we be invaded i will die next to you in trenches that is my offering to you South Africa

Like really, of all the challenges that the country is having changing the National Anthem is your priority guys come on. You are the ones failing this country because you have the chance to discuss issues that matters not about signing. I hope you won't be proposing that mshini wami be the national anthem in 2012.

@Third Eye, the nation is divided anyway it was never united. Even de Klerk and Madiba never tied a knot. The combining of the two anthems is the biggest lie. Blacks do sing the Afrikaans and English versions but 99% of the whites are not prepared to learn. Good suggestion Popcru. There should be a referendum (yes or no) for the national anthem. Cities, buildings, streets etc. have been changed why can't choose the song that has a meaning? Long live Nkosi sikelel'i afrika.....

Popcru - changing street names and songs doesn't fix a country - start doing something constructive to improve the economy. Go and listen again to the Afrikaans part of the song and you will notive that the words are only positive.

Be positive - not negative. Everywhere the country is being destroyed - an all levels - do something good.
