This is one book I must have in my shelve. The last sentence is the most striking one. I suppose the reason for casting Steve in the dustbin of history lies within the type of freedom we have. Those still holding the reigns of power, ANC, want to portray themselves as the people who solely liberated this country. They do not want to acknowledge important role players like Steve and others. The era before the death of Steve the ANC was existent in name not in deeds, let me qualify it, in the minds of the older generation. The majority of the youth of this country belonged to SASM and BPC.The day it was reported that "Steve Biko is dead" was as if the heavens have fallen everywhere one would go there was nothing else people were talking about. Steve's funeral was the first biggest funeral in the history of this country followed by Sobukwe's funeral in Graaf Reinet where Buthelezi was saved by Bishop Tutu' s intervention. I shudder to think if those people were alive we would have these pretenders to the throne that we have today.

Blame yourselves for your lazinesss and inablity to convince voters to vote for you.

I think you are talking about about something else. Maybe you have no idea the kind of a person Steve was. My trajectory was not about black consciousness aligned parties, that's a debate for another day, but more about the fundamental contribution that was made by the likes of Steve, may his sole rest in peace. You will be surprised that most leaders of the ANC were ardent followers of Steve who believed in non-racialism. Just take one of Steve's writings 'I write what I like' maybe your perspective will broadened as to the thought process of Steve at the time of his writing.

I'm starting to have reservations about this notion that Biko will be dissappointed. The way i look at it is that if he was alive, he would be married to Ramphele and both of them would be super rich. He would be hanging with Ramaphosa, Tokyo and Motsepe and all of them would be super dissappointed at their riches.

I love @Makhosini0408 comment. People tend to idolise what they don't know because they hope it would be better than what they are faced with now. I really don't see how Biko would be different from the rest. All of them had a dream to change lives of a black man but money changed all of them. They are changed. So, please spare us the unfounded theory good people. Biko is a politician and all of them are the same. They look good on paper and fool us to get votes then the true colours emerge as soon as they are in power. Leave Biko's soul to rest in peace please.

No, Biko must be remembered daily. The restoration of dignity and self esteem of black people is crucial if this country wants to become succesfull. Black pride and self esteem is as crucial for white SAfricans as it is for black SAfricans.
