Sep 18, 2012 | Sapa-AFP | 39 comments

A Swaziland court has sentenced a South African man to 85 years in prison for high treason and terrorism over a botched bomb attack against King Mswati III -- but will effectively jail him for a total of 26 years.

But the guy deserves a medal. The SA government should object and try to get him paroled at least. Make some efort, people. Pretend he's a female drug mule. Then you can send envoys and so on. Oh right, you actually support Mswati. I forgot.

This is what you get for meddling in another countries affairs. Pity it was the full sentence. Mswati is a dictator and despot agreed but its not up to SA to "take him out"

It is called selflessness and bravery; something i see lacking in a lot of people today. If that was the attitude i wonder where would South Africa's democracy be today. Lets not base everyting on tribalism. I am very disappointed in your thinking my brother. What if the vendas turn around and say you have land in Mozambique so go back there?

If he was a foreigner here in SA he was going to get away with that kind of a crime, this proves how we South Africans get harsh sentences in other African countries unlike our own country were they let Nigerians to sell drugs, chinnes to run illegal gambling and sell fake clothes.

Last week when we said the same thing about the wh ite tourist who insulted Bob in Zim, you did not see anything wrong with the tourist meddling in another country`s affairs. I have said it before & I will say it again, you are still very wet behind the ear, your hatred of b lack people as exactly the same JM hates your people, hypocrite.

In other words, he will serve the longest term of 25 years, less the six years he has already spent in detention since his arrest.
____________________________________________________________________________________
If he got arrested in 2008, then he has served 4 years no 6.

so effectively, this guy will spend a maximum of 22 years in jail ... all these years of jail run concurrently and inclusive of the time the guy was arrested which is 2008 ... it baffles me though that newspapers would write this 85 years as a headline just to grab the reader ... pathetic tactics!

If a South African comes to Nigeria and bombs our current president,we will be very grateful to him for liberating us so your argument holds no water.I am sure the same goes for countries run by heartless leaders all over Africa. This guy declared war on tyrant and deserves the support of all Africans especially those who knows what it feels like to live in a country run by the likes of mswati. You should look at the bigger picture and not let your emotions lead you astray.

honestly i find nothing wrong with the judge , he relied on facts to convict the guy. we all know that what he did was wrong .he should let swazi's fight their own battles , we can only suport them not to fight their batles while they stay comfortable waiting for the king's birth day to usher him with gifts. if he was selfless he should have mobilised swazis and used non violence means.
