Metro cop cleared in alleged road rage case
Motorist had pointed a weapon at cop and his girlfriend
A case of attempted murder against a metro police officer who shot and wounded a motorist has been dismissed by the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the case was thrown out by the court.
The Johannesburg metro police "... are of the view that the officer acted in self-defence. There will be no further disciplinary steps taken against the officer", he said.
The off-duty officer shot the motorist after he pointed a firearm at him in an apparent road rage incident.
Minnaar said the cars of the 24-year-old motorist and the officer collided at the Christiaan de Wet and John Vorster intersection in Honeydew.
The officer was with his girlfriend, a police officer, in the car.
The motorist allegedly grabbed the policewoman’s firearm and pointed it at the metro police officer.
The officer reached for his own firearm and shot the motorist in the leg.
Minnaar said the man was in a stable condition in hospital.

@sabza007 how do you know that really happened ? How likely is it that the member of the public would grab a cop's gun to try and shoot a metro cop ? Why would @Washumkhuku lie ?The race of the 24 yr old ? probably whi.te, which is why his complaint is probably just being laughed off.
