3. most children are raised by their grandmothers who are too weak to instill adequate moral compass

5. 70% of ladies above 18yrs have children, and yet they are not married
6. if you had your child as a teenager how can you tell your child not to have sex as a teenager since that child knows wena you were devoid of any moral capacity to correct her

A child of that age should still be a child, playing, doing sport, concerntrating on studying and looking forward to a succesful adult life, etc. Our society will never correct itself if we take the attitude that se.x at 14 is OK.

I think that some tv shows like glee or 90210 present teenage relationships as something that is normal and that could be why some teens think that its what they should be doing at that age. I remember that in primary school there were already kids in relationships and this was celebrated by most.

I come from a different time period and was lucky that my kids were not subjected to this kind of peer pressure so maybe I'm just too old to understand.

When my kids saw some skank on an MTV video, I'd make sure they knew that it was not acceptable. When we watched movies, I made sure that they knew what was acceptable and what was not. The TV wasn't just some kind of electronic baby sitting device. They also had the fear of the gods put into them about pregnancy.

I grew up in an environment with lots of peer pressure but because I was confident in myself and what I wanted in life, I didn't give in to peer pressure and I still don't, I didn't even start drinking til I was 21. I just feel like most parent's today dont instil discipline to their kids and are suprised when they misbehave, they dont fear the consequences of their actions because they dont understand what they are nor do they understand responsibility.

Most of us lose our virginity in high school (14-18). So for me i won't concentrate on fixing something that has been that way for as long as i can remember. Once you start looking like an adult you start doing more adult things from the books you read, movies you watch and things you do with your girlfriend. But what i'm trying to say is that these shows present having s€x and trying to be s€xy as the norm and therefore teenagers accept it as being normal and something that they should be doing as well. The responsibility comes down to parents and teenagers. There is a very good paper called 'Shooting the Messenger'. The problem is not the media but how the person's personal perceptions and life experience relate to the message.

Too many kids grow up with a series of 'uncles' sharing their mother's bed and a father who is completely absent from their lives. You then have parents who are quite okay for the male friends to be alone in the bedroom with their daughter, door closed and locked for hours. We also hear on a daily basis of young people not going home at night and the parent doesn't bat an eyelid. That makes controlling their hormones something that they don't even consider to be necessary. There is tacit approval for sex from the adult in their life.

Another problem that I have is pregnant kids at school. It makes it 'normal'. It is a difficult problem as the girl needs to get an education more than ever but the loss of the 'shameful' aspect of being stupid enough to fall pregnant has been lost.

My friends parents where very fussy about sex and we told them that if we really wanted to do it we will do it in the bush next to them and they will be non the wiser. I'm just glad i didn't grow up in that type of family but maybe it's because i don't have any sisters. I was warned against you know the real things... things that even i didn't want to get... a child, STI etc. To this day i control those things never put myself in harms way but if i had to sneak around and never introduce my girl to my parents and the like i probably would have been in a rush when i broke my virginity in a rush and probably wouldn't have used a con.do.m! I mean once you have s.e.x without a condom, using one doesn't become as 'necessary afterwards.

If I had to bring a girl home pregnant my parents would make me marry her. It would be the decent thing to do, but having sisters is a constant fight. Keeping them safe, but luckily the 14year old brings small sh1ts home so I can make them fear me if possible, but I find if you level with them dude to dude and talk to them they are very accommodating. Given the fact that your children grow up in a real world why not equip them with real-world tools. This is probably one of the most probably aspects of the human experience. We won't all run as fast, make as much money etc etc. but most of us will have s.ex between 14-18

Just before 1994, I still remember very well when different denominational churches around the country, especially The Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa distributed lists amongst its denominations or branches for all of us who were affiliated to it during that time, to write our names on the lists, that list would thereafter be submmitted as a petition to those that were busy formulating our new constitution, because we were told that this new constitution was going to allow for things like ponography in the name of freedom of expression, prostitution and also allow violent films to shown on our screens. However, I believe those law makers thought that these pastors and their churches were only dreaming.

Today we are living in a sex saturated society, most of the programes we watch on our screens are about sex. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that the result of this is what we are experiencing today. However, i am so dismayed at what the so called experts say in this article. The following statement is what what they believe is the underlying problem:

This is what they said, "Social worker Pamela Rubushe, who is based at Dora Nginza Hospital, said the situation had reached crisis level as an average of 50 teenagers, all aged between 13 to 18, gave birth at the hospital a month.

Rubushe said in many cases young girls were being exploited for sex by older men in exchange for money.

"They cannot differentiate between love and sexual exploitation. They think sex and love is the same thing and because they do not get love at home they look for it with older men," said Rubushe".

I say this is nonsence, she might be a social worker but what she is saying here is nonsence. Most of these school children are impregnated by their school mates. I'm not trying to say that elder people don't sleep with them, but i'm saying most of them are impregnated by their own school mates. The main problem in this country is a society that is saturated of sex scence on television and magazines. Children are not stupids, they see things on television and they want to try and see what will happen.

"Child Welfare South Africa regional director Dalene Ritter said the increase in children who were neglected or sexually abused was directly linked to the increase of children who were engaging in sexual activities at an earlier age".
This is another nonsesical assumption by the so called experts. Children are so exposed to sex stuff in this country and when they practice what they watch on televisions, which later result in them getting preganant at an early age, we start to blame things that has nothing to do with the problem. We must just accept that our constitution which is said to be the best in the whole world, has come with more problems than solutions. One question that i have always asked myself is, why if this constitution is really the best, other countries are not copying it, why?
