SOUTH African military bases have been placed on high alert - for the first time since democracy - ahead of Julius Malema's planned meeting with soldiers today.

I think three years ago I told a friend while was still working in the mines that the union(specifically NUM) doesn't serve their interest because this people even when their are serving the Union from regional levels are still paid (fat salaries) by the mines...so my question was how can someone who work for the Union be paid by the mine?NUM is not independent and as a former engineer at the mines i fill so sorry for this people because i know the conditions they work under..Malema's approach or maybe activities towards addressing this issue may be dramatic or as mostly referred to "rhetoric"...but to all South Africans in 1994 for you acquired your freedom and democracy but miners didn't so maybe its their time to acquire theirs..so lets stop accussing their actions and to Dr. Mamphela I'm sorry to say this but your irresponsible and the worse part your a woman who is suppose to be like mother and you know exactly how much this miners get and make but you don't care because what they make is what gets you a "fat check at the end of the year" and some you give to the Union leaders as a sell-out fee Report Abuse

"Economic freedom" means that one can actively participate in the economy and be fairly rewarded for one`s efforts. It does not mean that an unskilled labourer can suddenly want a 300% increase. Economic freedom means you WORK for your efforts. It does not mean that one can demand a high salary for no work or for being unproductive. That said, SA is one of the unproductive countries in the world. Our labour, compared to labour of other developing countries, is highly paid for less production. at the rate we going, our labour will be highly paid but they will not be able to spend the money because prices will go up. Too much money in circulation causes prices to go up. This is called inflation. At the rate it is going, we will have poor millionares and be like Zim.

For those that still don't believe, Julius Malema will be president of this country within the next 5 years. When he does become president he will centralize his power and become a dictator. Once that happens foreign investors will pull their money out of this country and the stocks in the JSE will plummet. Ordinary people can make money when share prices go down, it is called shorting. Do you want all your savings to vanish when Malema becomes president of the country? Do you want to be a victim? Or not? You can benefit from falling markets by participating in the JSE. I certainly will make money from plummeting share prices instead of becoming poor like people did in Zimbabwe. Report Abuse

Hello my Sis
Everybody has to participate in the economy and share in the benefits of that economy. Our country is faced with inequalities. There are many poor people, very few rich people. this means that the majority of the people do not get to share in the economy because they are illiterate and unemployed, and are subject to poverty. Unfortunately, our government keeps blaming the old system for these inequalities when we all know that these inequalities are created by the very same government. Corruption is rife. Only a few clueless individuals benefit and the rest are left to suffer.
if you look at developed nations, the majority of the people share the economy equally, that is why these countries have less crime, and they do not have as many problems. Report Abuse

Secondly he encourages the miners to continue striking until such time that their demands are met...has it ever crossed his mind even for a moment that these people can be jobless sooner than later? Whilst they listen to him and continue to strike his life is not on hold the Ratanang Trust Fund continues to pay his bills and put bread on the table as the miners fight over food donations. It means CEO of Lonim gets R125,000pm and the lowest worker gets 10 % R12,500. It mean's tenders are given to the communities not a few white linked companies.
It means , companies are forced to employ educated youths.
Lastly , it means you can only be poor because you are lazy not because someone inherited riches from white settlers who don't what to share.

Don't talk k@k about cde Malema bru. You should have listened to former state president FW De Klerk regarding the mining wages agreement.
The reason why the ANCYL are demanding the nationalisation is because they know that their national leaders are not sharing, hence the expulsion of the ANCYL leaders.
FW said there was an agreement during the negotiations regarding the wages in the mines (min R11500) for underground workers. Something that Cyril Ramaphosa and his cronies didn't divulge to the masses of Mzansi.
Also, if you visit www.marikana-the truth.co.za, you'll get a clear picture and coincidence in what FW said last week Friday. This is not about black and white but the fireedom fighters who are taking advantage of the wealth in the expense of the poor. Report Abuse

Julius Malema is playing with fire, it easy to ignite this beautiful country to burn out and be like like other failed democratic states in Africa. For all this chaos, I blame NUM and Cosatu leaders including some Ministers in government. 5 years back, if soldiers hadn't march to Union buildings we wouldn't have know that majority of them are earning R4000 pm. We wouldn't have known the pathetic living conditions.
Same as these miners, Lesiba Leshoka and Co. are earning good salaries while the people they represent earn 20% of what these Union leaders are earning. This is shocking. They are busy play cards with ANC matters instead of concentrating on workers demands and condition.
Having said that, the whole world sympathized with miners after Marikana incident because they wanted better salaries. Ok , government, Lonmin, unions, church leaders are trying to the get the solutions. But these miners are now loosing our sympathy because they behave like terrorist now, and this Ben 10 kid called Malema is fueling them. Report Abuse

Buc4life, thanks. What do you propose as a way forward to reduce these inequalities?
..................
The government must be serious, i mean serious about education. Education is the cornerstone of any free economy. In a democracy, inequalities will always be there, but we cannot have an economy with lots of poor people but few rich individuas, So, education is important, but we(the society) have a responsibility to vote for a credible government. You see, this again, boils down to education. Many, many people believe what the likes of Malema say, and this is unfortunate. Many people cannot think for themselves, and vote for the party they like. I understand why people vote for the ANC, but this party has taken people for granted and looted state`s resources, so they must be voted out. The ANC government has continued building below-standard RDP houses. The gap between rich and poor is widened by this. the ANC government has reduced the Matric pass rate- this creates more inequalities. How is someone with a 40% Matric pass rate going to compete with someone with a 70% pass rate? this is ludicrous. so, what i am saying is that as long as this government is in power, SA will continue to have these inequalities and be on a downward spiral like Zim. Unfortunately, as it stands, Sphiwe Dlamini is the head od Communications in the Ministry of Defence and Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is the Minister of Defence, Malema on the other side is just, a man on the street.
Secondly, Defence personnel are employed under the Defence Act, which has a lot of thing that soldiers are not permitted to do. One of them is what Malema is doing. Because of blunders by all former Defence Force Ministers including the Chiefs of SANDF, the organisation is a ticking time bomb in terms of issues regarding payments, promotions and working conditions. Even the introduction of unions is not helping.
Taking Malema the will add oil in the fire, because he is a factory fault, made in Luthuli House.

It is understood that education is a necessity for this modern world. But we have many undereducated people. What would you propose for putting food in the mouths of these unemployed/ unemployable people who want to work, now and not 30 years time. Report Abuse
@cornelius
@tpaz - what on earth is stopping a b'lack person from working hard, getting an education, becoming involved or starting the kinds of companies that can be awarded tenders on merit ? TYhere are so many BEE laws and regulations that an educated bl.ack person has the worls at his/her feet. So the key is education, bu tpeople keep on voting the ANc into power, the party that has destoyed education in this country, so that we are now third worst in Africa ! Can you believe it ? The economic powerhouse of Africa, since the days that the colonialists, came and developed it, is now the worst in educastion. Your anger should be ddirected at the ANC govenrment and you shoul dbe doing everythin possible to get them treplaced by a party that will governm properly - that is what democracy means.
----------------------------------------
I think tpaz has a gigantic chip on her shoulder and this obscures her racist vision.
Tenders are not given to whites as she states, but rather to 'connected' blacks - just look at who is getting filthy rich!
Why should whites share with those who are too lazy to work or think producing babies for grant money is a worthwhile industry?
Economic freedom means that there are no barriers to anyone earning a decent income if they are prepared to put in the effort. The ONLY people who are now marginalized is the white male who works and creates and then is told to share with those who are too lazy to do it for themselves.
malema is a self serving and dangerous little man who won't be happy until this country burns. He is being allowed (WHY??) to address people he has no connection to nor interest in.
His only aim is show JZ and the ANC the middle finger for booting him out of his very comfy position.
When the sh!t hit the fan you won't see him for dust and all his minions will be asking what happened!
He should be charged with sedition and locked up - in a deep mine shaft!! Report Abuse

Politics are funny merry go round jokes but however ''You do not kill a vegetable by shooting it with a gun on the head''
The following track / song / poetry (by Kimberlin ''Lil'Kim / Queen B'' Brown) taken from her album The Naked Truth, sums up my very last comment about Julius Malema! Just replace the rap / hip hop slung with political slang!
SORRY for those who are lazy to read long stories, please just ignore! {Harsh words edited}
''[Chorus: Denaun Porter - singing]
Now don't you know that they want to, catch you
Slippin with no protection
Lead you in the wrong direction
Every nigga around you is a reflection
Of you when you were at your lowest point in your life
Cause niggaz wanna catch you slippin
(Don't let 'em catch you slippin)
They wanna catch you slippin (you've been slippin, slippin)''
[Lil' Kim: rapping]
No more Mrs. Nice B***h
Niggaz done, flipped the script and got on some sheist sh**t
Sellin they soul when love is priceless
They kicked me when I was down and stuck in a crisis
I kept it all in and now I'm 'bout to erupt
Man, f**** the law the whole system's corrupt
A street grudge put me in front of a judge
But I stood there like what, the Bee don't budge
It's a foul game, no such thing as fair play
And real niggaz get railroaded everyday
Words misconstrued and used against you
Then you get screwed when it's time to sentence you
World cavin in, it's a shi***y sitch-i-ation
A year and a day, three years probation
Public humiliation, poor representation
Guilty by association
I'ma stand up type, grew up in the projects
And that's worth more than material objects
A lot of things when they know you got it
You a target, and now they tryin to get in the pockets
Lawsuits, lawyers prosecute for profit
Meanwhile the media promotin the gossip
I had to say it, cause I'm that real with it
You shinin like a star, then you gotta deal with it
And dudes pick to take these groupies to bed
Better watch it 'fore they write a book about like Superhead
F**** 'em and leave 'em then they after your paper
Put a hole in the condom and say that you raped her
See you can be a rapper, athlete or an actor
Believe me, these devils find a way to get at'cha
All it takes is some green and your face on the screen
F**** it, just say I took one for the team
In these streets you gotta sleep with one eye open
And watch for the snakes and the Jakes approachin
Cause it could be the ones that you laugh and joke wit
The ones you smoke wit, and sold your coke wit
I set you up for the right piece of change
And have your brains on the dashboard of the Range
Too often, I seen a nigga layin in the coffin
All cause some s**** was blown out of proportion
Everywhere you go you gotta move with caution
Cause the rap game ain't much different than the crack game
It's the new hustle, gotta have brains and muscle
Get too much money and these haters wanna touch you
Now I can see why they all on me
Niggaz do dirty work, the s**** fall on me
Not only do you gotta watch the boys in blue
But the niggaz in your crew you gotta watch them too''
Just like Kimberlin Brown, Julius Malema is nothing but a ''famous trash'' that belongs to the dark history books of extinction. The pair has got one thing in common, they are both finished, and the only distinct difference between them is that the other one had been destroyed by the rigors of fast life and dirty life style while the latter had been destroyed by his big mouth, political illiteracy and stupidity!
For him to confess to hating you people won't the problems in hand dissappear nor parish. Wrong, cde Malema didn't start the mining strikes but the workers themselves. The workers just asked for his take in their demand since he's the ONLY person who can tell the ANC the truth they know, in their faces without fear of being repreminded.
At first the Lonmin Management black puppets told the public that the miners were getting almost R12500 befoew deductions. When cornered prior the peace accord, they make a turn around and say increament of R7000 per employee is not possible. Were the workers asking for (R19500, 12500+700) or R12500? From that one can conclude that the workers were right all along when they said they were earning ±R5500/m (R12500-R7000 = R5500). WHO"S FOOLING WHO HERE?
"He is putting these poor people at risk for hisown political gains...." Are you proud to can be able to utter proudly that there are still poor people? The same people are the same as the ones who are getting prefences from the ANC bigwigs for their shoddy running of the state. Is poor being assocuated with black since i DIDN"T any white person in all the striking masses? These people deserves better and the strike, whether the mining companies go bunkrupt or not, the wage issue should be looked at to intensify the better living conditions of the miners and their families.
Did you know that Cyril Ramaphoas was paid $305million in cash two years back by Lonmin management, for what? For provision of labour management.................. Report Abuse

It is good to see Malema being the champion of the poor. Now, he is really working. He is more busy as compared to a time when he was still at the office. I think he is doing a very good job. If ANCYL was doing this all along, we would all be singing praises for them. ANCYL Western Cape branch is also doing a very good job there. Now, they becoming more visible.
Well Malema is using the miners as much as he can. The plan is to disturbilise as many as possible around the country, have them closedand he partners in the ANC go in and take them under the state. Then wala! Juju owns a mine and he hopes to stay rich for ever after that, no more politics for him as he will be trying to be a new Motsepe. Julius Malema will be president of this country within the next 5 years.

It clearly shows that this moron has never worked a day in his life, he tells the miners to strike for five days every month, that's 40 hours a week, if it's unpaid how much will the miners take home? I say to the miners your pleas have been heard so let the negotiations take place and go back to work in the mean time. what ever minimum wage is agreed upon you will get back pay (bear in mind that it can only happen if you work during negotiations). By not reporting for work you are not helping yourselves or anyone, let's say lomin agrees to pay you R12 500.00, if you've not been going to work you will be in so much debt the money won't be enough for you to survive, who will you blame then? This boy is undermining those who fought and died for democracy by trying to make the country unstable. In a democracy if you want to lead you let the people vote for you, i wonder who in their right mind would vote for a moron who enriched himself with taxpayers money and so power hungry that he doesn't care whether his action cripples the economy or not. Malema is a dictator, should he rule the country i will be fighting on the front line not only to overthrow him but to capture and publicly castrate him Report Abuse

The thing is hated most about Malema is he is dangerous and self-destructive. He is the kind of leader who will start a civil war without a second thought so long as doing so served his purpose. He is now crossing the line big time; the army is not like the private sector where you can argue freedom of expression and association.
This is an essential service under the Command of the President; these guys are not even allowed to strike for a good reason. Addressing the army is not only stupid and dangerous but it also means one wrong statement and Malema could find himself in prison for one of a litany of possible charges from incitement, treason and even mutiny. Treason or mutiny are very serious charges, he stands to be charged and tried in military court where civil rights are not the priority.
Malema is playing with fire or maybe you want to be arrested so you can claim victimisation and turn yourself into a martyr. I don’t like this at all; the thought of a civil war or coup de tar is too ghastly to contemplate. It is time for the likes of Mbalula to distance themselves from Malema as his actions are now affront to what a democracy is all about. Sabotaging the state is not a clever move.

THE THIRTY MAJOR CAUSES OF FAILURE HOW MANY OF THESE ARE HOLDING YOU BACK?
1. UNFAVORABLE HEREDITARY BACKGROUND. There is but little, if anything, which can be done for people who are born with a deficiency in brain power. This philosophy offers but one method of bridging this weakness--through the aid of the Master Mind. Observe with profit, however, that this is the ONLY one of the thirty causes of failure which may not be easily corrected by any individual.
2. LACK OF A WELL-DEFINED PURPOSE IN LIFE. There is no hope of success for the person who does not have a central purpose, or definite goal at which to aim. Ninety-eight out of every hundred of those whom I have analyzed, had no such aim. Perhaps this was the MAJOR CAUSE OF THEIR FAILURE.
3. LACK OF AMBITION TO AIM ABOVE MEDIOCRITY. We offer no hope for the person who is so indifferent as not to want to get ahead in life, and who is not willing to pay the price.
4. INSUFFICIENT EDUCATION. This is a handicap which may be overcome with comparative ease. Experience has proven that the best-educated people are often those who are known as "self-made," or self-educated. It takes more than a college degree to make one a person of education. Any person who is educated is one who has learned to get whatever he wants in life without violating the rights of others. Education consists, not so much of knowledge, but of knowledge effectively and persistently APPLIED. Men are paid, not merely for what they know, but more particularly for WHAT THEY DO WITH THAT WHICH THEY KNOW.
5. LACK OF SELF-DISCIPLINE. Discipline comes through self-control. This means that one must control all negative qualities. Before you can control conditions, you must first control yourself. Self-mastery is the hardest job you will ever tackle. If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self. You may see at one and the same time both your best friend and your greatest enemy, by stepping in front of a mirror.
6. ILL HEALTH. No person may enjoy outstanding success without good health. Many
of the causes of ill health are subject to mastery and control. These, in the main are:
a. Overeating of foods not conducive to health
b. Wrong habits of thought; giving expression to negatives.
c. Wrong use of, and over indulgence in sex.
7. UNFAVORABLE ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES DURING CHILDHOOD. "As the twig is bent, so shall the tree grow." Most people who have criminal tendencies acquire them as the result of bad environment, and improper associates during childhood.
8. PROCRASTINATION. This is one of the most common causes of failure. "Old Man Procrastination" stands within the shadow of every human being, waiting his opportunity to spoil one's chances of success. Most of us go through life as failures, because we are waiting for the "time to be right" to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be "just right." Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.
9. LACK OF PERSISTENCE. Most of us are good "starters" but poor "finishers" of everything we begin. Moreover, people are prone to give up at the first signs of defeat. There is
no substitute for PERSISTENCE. The person who makes PERSISTENCE his watch-word, discovers that "Old Man Failure" finally becomes tired, and makes his departure. Failure cannot cope with PERSISTENCE.
10. NEGATIVE PERSONALITY. There is no hope of success for the person who repels people through a negative personality. Success comes through the application of POWER, and power is attained through the cooperative efforts of other people. A negative personality will not induce cooperation.
11. LACK OF CONTROLLED SEXUAL URGE. Sex energy is the most powerful of all the stimuli which move people into ACTION. Because it is the most powerful of the emotions, it must be controlled, through transmutation, and converted into other channels.
12. UNCONTROLLED DESIRE FOR "SOMETHING FOR NOTHING." The gambling instinct drives millions of people to failure. Evidence of this may be found in a study of the Wall Street crash of ’29, during which millions of people tried to make money by gambling on stock margins.
13. LACK OF A WELL DEFINED POWER OF DECISION. Men who succeed reach decisions promptly, and change them, if at all, very slowly. Men who fail, reach decisions, if at all, very slowly, and change them frequently, and quickly. Indecision and procrastination are twin brothers. Where one is found, the other
may usually be found also. Kill off this pair before they completely "hog-tie" you to the treadmill of FAILURE.
14. ONE OR MORE OF THE SIX BASIC FEARS. These fears have been analyzed for you in a later chapter. They must be mastered before you can market your services effectively.
15. WRONG SELECTION OF A MATE IN MARRIAGE. This a most common cause of failure. The relationship of marriage brings people intimately into contact. Unless this relationship is harmonious, failure is likely to follow. Moreover, it will be a form of failure that is marked by misery and unhappiness, destroying all signs of AMBITION.
16. OVER-CAUTION. The person who takes no chances, generally has to take whatever is left when others are through choosing. Over-caution is as bad as under-caution. Both are extremes to be guarded against. Life itself is filled with the element of chance.
17. WRONG SELECTION OF ASSOCIATES IN BUSINESS. This is one of the most common causes of failure in business. In marketing personal services, one should use great care to select an employer who will be an inspiration, and who is, himself, intelligent and successful. We emulate those with whom we associate most closely. Pick an employer who is worth emulating.
18. SUPERSTITION AND PREJUDICE. Superstition is a form of fear. It is also a sign of
ignorance. Men who succeed keep open minds and are afraid of nothing.
19. WRONG SELECTION OF A VOCATION. No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like. The most essential step in the marketing of personal services is that of selecting an occupation into which you can throw yourself wholeheartedly.
20. LACK OF CONCENTRATION OF EFFORT. The "jack-of-all-trades" seldom is good at any. Concentrate all of your efforts on one DEFINITE CHIEF AIM.
21. THE HABIT OF INDISCRIMINATE SPENDING. The spend-thrift cannot succeed, mainly because he stands eternally in FEAR OF POVERTY. Form the habit of systematic saving by putting aside a definite percentage of your income. Money in the bank gives one a very safe foundation of COURAGE when bargaining for the sale of personal services. Without money, one must take what one is offered, and be glad to get it.
22. LACK OF ENTHUSIASM. Without enthusiasm one cannot be convincing. Moreover, enthusiasm is contagious, and the person who has it, under control, is generally welcome in any group of people.
23. INTOLERANCE. The person with a "closed" mind on any subject seldom gets ahead. Intolerance means that one has stopped acquiring knowledge. The most damaging forms of intolerance
are those connected with religious, racial, and political differences of opinion.
24. INTEMPERANCE. The most damaging forms of intemperance are connected with eating, strong drink, and sexual activities. Overindulgence in any of these is fatal to success.
25. INABILITY TO COOPERATE WITH OTHERS. More people lose their positions and their big opportunities in life, because of this fault, than for all other reasons combined. It is a fault which no well-informed business man, or leader will tolerate.
26. POSSESSION OF POWER THAT WAS NOT ACQUIRED THROUGH SELF EFFORT. (Sons and daughters of wealthy men, and others who inherit money which they did not earn). Power in the hands of one who did not acquire it gradually, is often fatal to success. QUICK RICHES are more dangerous than poverty.
27. INTENTIONAL DISHONESTY. There is no substitute for honesty. One may be temporarily dishonest by force of circumstances over which one has no control, without permanent damage. But, there is NO HOPE for the person who is dishonest by choice. Sooner or later, his deeds will catch up with him, and he will pay by loss of reputation, and perhaps even loss of liberty.
28. EGOTISM AND VANITY. These qualities serve as red lights which warn others to keep away. THEY ARE FATAL TO SUCCESS.
29. GUESSING INSTEAD OF THINKING. Most people are too indifferent or lazy to acquire FACTS with which to THINK ACCURATELY. They prefer to act on "opinions" created by guesswork or snap-judgments.
30. LACK OF CAPITAL. This is a common cause of failure among those who start out in business for the first time, without sufficient reserve of capital to absorb the shock of their mistakes, and to carry them over until

What he is doing is exactly what he did when he found himself in trouble; he is using the plight of the desperate and poor to garner support and prove he has a massive following so the president will think twice about arresting him. This is Juju trying to stay out of jail for corruption and tax evasion.
The only way for politicians and their investors to survive is to be corrupt and serve the people at the same time; that way you will never have to deal with any uprising.
To do away with stealing is a dream that will never be realized on this Earth Farm, so shooting in the dark is an absolute waste of time and money. If the people are happy, there won’t be anything to investigate.
To even suggest that the Army is the body guard of the government shows that some people will never have rights, thereby not enjoying the fruits of this proclaimed Democracy in SA.
Freedom fighters have been fighting against these disparities for years.
Juju’s time will also elapse and the lives of the Elite will once again be there on the radar for everyone to dream about; life goes on and on and on…..

The differnce between Hitler/Amin & Malema is they (Hitler/Amin) were feared and ruthless soldiers that is why they ruled.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Actually Hitler was considered by many Germans to be a loony and a dangerous fringe right-wing element who preached hate and showed signs he would plunge German into a state of war the first opportunity he got. He failed to win the elections twice as he had just a fraction of the vote, had it not been for the financial crisis and abject poverty after WW1 Hitler would never had been elected in a democratic election. Even when he assumed power it was because the elections ended in a deadlock. Hitler was not as popular as many believe, there was a lot of resistance to his methods, he was like a Eugene Terr'blanche of Germany.
There is a lot of validity in drawing parallels between Hitler and Malema, the two share so many attributes it is not funny. Hitler turned against a wealthy minority and cited them as the cause for Germany's problems as a result Jews were effectively made non-citizens in their country before their wealth looted and the extermination that followed. Similarly Malema has identified our wealthy white minority and made them the common enemy we need to fight.
The similarity is uncanny, give Malema an opportunity he will destroy SA just like Hitler destroyed Germany.

The thing with mob psychology is you don’t have to be right or intelligent to cause a serious problem. Look no further than Zimbabwe to see at how quickly things can turn bad especially when you are the designated enemy of the people or state. Malema is very dangerous and South Africans tend to subscribe to mob psyche or resort to violence instead of dialogue. Poverty is a reality we can’t run from, it is the catalyst that can ignite a fire; we don’t need Malema pouring petrol of the fire.
Malema is very dangerous and unfortunately there are enough idiots around to cause serious trouble. We are at a volatile stage; this is not the time for one individual to be causing trouble. Look at the unrest he is causing in the mining sector.
Truth is we get most our foreign reserves from exports, if the trade deficit continues to grow – which we can assume to be the case in the current quarter – then the rand is likely to depreciate which means we will import inflation and it gets worse from there. This is one man, his irrational and irresponsible actions will make life more difficult for all of us and he is doing damage every time he opens his mouth. We do not need instability in the mining sector as the consequences are immediate and will affect all of us directly; everything is connected.
I just wish people on the street could understand the chain reaction, this is no joke.

The war of poverty is similar to the war between America and The East; it will never end until the mindset changes or rather until retribution is achieved.

Everybody wants poverty to be alleviated. Why would the rich want to have so many poor people in a country ? The more wealthy the nation in general, the better for everyone. If it is possible to pay the most unskilled workers R 20 000 p/mnth, that would represent so much more buying power, that all businesses would do even better.
The question is what is the best way to achieve this . That is what should be debated in a civilised manner, and the argument should be won on merit, not coercion of masses, incited by populist demogogues who have their own agendas. I am sure even you will agree that education is the most effective means to fight poverty - that is where the whole of SA' effortts should be concentrated. Report Abuse

You need to understand what kind of people does Malema appeal to to unlock your question. Malema appeals to the naive, the young and gullible and the uneducated. The youth league is fertile ground for him because let’s be honest the youth are pliable and easy to manipulate, at that level political maturity is lacking so mob psyche rules the day. Challenge most YL supporters you will find political knowledge is thin. It is not by accident that he has chosen economics as his platform, the poorest of the poor unfortunately is fertile ground for a number of reasons.
His support is not the same in the ANC proper because your membership is more mature one hopes therefore less susceptible to propaganda though many are gullible. In short I doubt if he will have enough votes to catapult him to power. A Malema candidacy will be met with unparalleled resistance from all sectors of society I honestly don’t see Malema winning his presidency through a ballot.
Then there is the issue of corruption and his impending arrest, he is likely to be jailed very soon unless he can start a national revolt which will also fail. He has turned into a fringe element many will be wary of associating with him especially since he has shown to be politically immature and impulsive. I’d be very surprised if a Malema presidency were to materialise. That the unlikely become a reality then the answer is yes, his term will be a disaster and things will seriously fall apart.
Having said that, experience and history proves the ANC rank and file tend to make irrational decisions from time to time so the possibility cannot be completely ruled out.

The poor has a chance to survice if the current fat corrupt incompetence African National Confused, do not divert money to improve the lives of the poor, to a more worthy course, their own pockets and yes they have a chance if the quality of poor education is improved, I have not even touched the issue of textbooks.
I cringe, when you talk about Malema's relevance to the poor. Sorry, let me repeat myself. Malema is a factory fault, made in Luthuli House and elevated to where he is, by our own media. Let me elaborate, lazy journalists, who waits for news to come to them. In the 80's we referred to people of his calibre as comrade tsotsis (com tsotsis) siyayinyova (stone throwers). He always shoot from the hip and knows nothing about the art of leadership, let alone polotics in his lifetime. Asolutely clueless.
He is using the poor to advance his cause, unfortunately. He is the kind that uses rhetoric useless phrase to say adsolutely nothing. Last week, the poor workers, braved the cold weather to be addressed by him, unaware that his visit was cancelled because of bad weather and his photo in his plush Sandton home tells two tales, someone who symphathise with the poor for their cause and retire to his luxurious lifestyle. I guess, he likes a one Smuts Ngonyama was not in the struggle to be poor. How sad?
You can never discard education because that’s primary in the shitstem; at least we are made to believe that. Everyone else is considered to be outside.
Lemme ask you this; who writes laws? Whether trade/economy, administrative, criminal, etc? Is it the illiterates? Who administer the Economy of the Earth Farm? Is it the illiterates?
If the answer to all above questions is No, then why are we still in this mess with all Educated people running the show?

Makhosini0408 - Something went seriously wrong before and during the polokwane elective conference. Which in turn saw his corruption charges being overthrown, the armsdeal corruption forgotten and the crazy people running the asylum.
On top of what julius preaches, before you can become a wellfare state, you need a strong economy in the 1st place. As is the case in Sweden, from the 70's till the 90's, they heavily focussed on expanding their economy. And then after 2000, the socialistic systems started to kick in.
In South Africa, people want to turn the country into a wellfare state, without the backing of a strong economy. A strong economy is seen as "evil" and as "slavery". Or as vestiges of the 'white man'. Report Abuse

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I still believe that Malema will become president, at least within 10 years. Here's why:
- During the struggle against apartheid, most leaders of the ANC were educated people. The people that started the ANCYL and the ANCWL were all highly educated individuals. Some were young (like Mandela, Sisulu and Tambo) when they helped form the ANCYL. Educated individuals removed the leadership of the ANC in the 1940s. What they mostly wanted was political freedom, that's what they were fighting for. My point is that educated people made up a majority of ANC members.
- Another thing you must keep in mind is that most black people that were not educated stayed in former home lands because of government's policy back then. So those that stayed in the cities were a bit educated and had a bit of money to fund their political activities.
- Things are different now. We got political freedom and now it's all about economic freedom. The way to attain economic freedom from 1994 onwards was to get an education and then a job. It was also through starting a business. Those methods were slow to realize total economic transformation in this country so therefore policies such as AA and BEE were instituted. People also realized that one doesn't need to get an education to become rich through tenderpreneurship and corruption. The price to pay for corruption when you are politically connected are slim so it has now become entrenched in society.
- Most people that get an education and work hard for their money move out from rural areas and into the surburbs. Most of those people don't participate in political activities, they only work and play.
- Most people that participate in political activities live in rural areas and townships. They are unemployed and not well educated. Some will want to be elected so that they can occupy positions allowing them access to government resources so that they can buy mansions and BMWs.
- Most ANC branches are made up of people that are uneducated. It's the type of people that think with the crowd. They won't speak up for fear of being politically sidelined. Look at the ANC Limpopo province, they all supported economic freedom in our lifetime, nationalization of mines and they all wanted Zuma out, all because Julius is from there.
- So I disagree with you when you say the ANC is mature and will not choose Malema as their leader. Going forward ANC leadership positions will not be filled by intellectuals and educated people because those intelectualls and educated people will be in the private sector and making money. Going forward, ANC leadership positions will be filled by people who are not educated, people who want money by hook or by crook and people who don't care about anyone else.
The point is that Malema will be president, what will you do when that happens? Even if you disagree with me, let us just say that by some chance Malema becomes president, what will you do? What is your plan of action to not be a victim? Report Abuse

Sandile: A rather silly question but let's see... Let us assume for argument's sake that he will in the next 10 years, which I doubt, but let's go with that. The economy will be well and truly screwed. We will have a power crazed moron leading a bunch of semi-literate and violent people at the helm, so it will be bad news all around. But what choices will we have? To leave our homeland, destitute and unwanted anywhere because of the reputation for corruption and thuggery that our people have managed to build up in the last ten years? It's not an option. So victims we will all be, and one hopes people will have opened their eyes before that happens. Me, I'm old and I don't really care, as far as I am concerned. But what about our children and their children. Do we wish for them to grow up in a country with all resources plundered, the environment wrecked by bribed officials allowing mining in sensitive areas, without water because dams etc have been badly built by tenderpreneuers? Mamphela I'm sorry to say this but your irresponsible and the worse part your a woman who is suppose to be like mother and you know exactly how much this miners get and make but you don't care because what they make is what gets you a "fat check at the end of the year" and some you give to the Union leaders as a sell-out feeReport Abuse

Morning All"Economic freedom" means that one can actively participate in the economy and be fairly rewarded for one`s efforts.
I said yesterday that wish ppl understood economics and how it impacts politics, The two cannot be separated.

I certainly will make money from plummeting share prices instead of becoming poor like people did in Zimbabwe.Report Abuse

It means the gap between the rich and poor is narrowed.

We wouldn't have known the pathetic living conditions.Same as these miners, Lesiba Leshoka and Co. are earning good salaries while the people they represent earn 20% of what these Union leaders are earning.
But these miners are now loosing our sympathy because they behave like terrorist now, and this Ben 10 kid called Malema is fueling them.

imfeneBuc4life, thanks.

Lead you in the wrong direction
Every nigga around you is a reflection
Of you when you were at your lowest point in your life
Cause niggaz wanna catch you slippin

They wanna catch you slippin (you've been slippin, slippin)''
[Lil' Kim: rapping]

Niggaz done, flipped the script and got on some sheist sh**t
Sellin they soul when love is priceless
They kicked me when I was down and stuck in a crisis
I kept it all in and now I'm 'bout to erupt
Man, f**** the law the whole system's corrupt
A street grudge put me in front of a judge
But I stood there like what, the Bee don't budge
It's a foul game, no such thing as fair play
And real niggaz get railroaded everyday
Words misconstrued and used against you
Then you get screwed when it's time to sentence you
World cavin in, it's a shi***y sitch-i-ation

@corneliusFor him to confess to hating you people won't the problems in hand dissappear nor parish.

Julius Malema will be president of this country within the next 5 years. I certainly will make money from plummeting share prices instead of becoming poor like people did in Zimbabwe.Report Abuse

THE THIRTY MAJOR CAUSES OF FAILURE HOW MANY OF THESE ARE HOLDING YOU BACK?1.

DzelActually Hitler was considered by many Germans to be a loony and a dangerous fringe right-wing element who preached hate and showed signs he would plunge German into a state of war the first opportunity he got.

I agree with you 100%. Hitler and Malema are good orators. They both find resonance with the poor, etc.

You can clearly see from some comments here that some people really don’t care what happens to the poor, so long as there’s no war or death threats towards them, all is fine. So imagine the number of these people worldwide? The Poor don’t have a chance it seems. The war of poverty is similar to the war between America and The East; it will never end until the mindset changes or rather until retribution is achieved.
Malema’s relevance to poor is to facilitate anything that will better their lives; just like all before and during his time.
People like Mandela did not achieve anything to liberate the poor from Poverty yet his head is on the bank notes and he is worshiped? That proves who his Master is. Yet true freedom fighters are discredited at all costs.

All people have a chance, it depends on themselves to uplift themselves from poverty, a big mouthed punk who can't even pass woodwork and does not understand economics and business is not going to do it for them.
Calling for strikes and making the mining sector ungovernable is going to see the country suffer more with more people out of jobs. Some people are just too stupid to see this because they do not understand how it works.
The best the the poor can do is to use their vote wisely so that education can get the primary attention it needs, something uneducated f.ools also don't understand.

@ Black SeedEverybody wants poverty to be alleviated.

How sad?

Remember, education is like a tree, think of it like its the roots, with education comes entrepreneurship, with entrepreneurship comes job opportunity. There is a very few millionaires out there who got what they wanted without education, if they did not have education criminal activities is the first to look at. There is however those millionaires who did not receive a quality education or flunked out, but did it with hard work and determination but very few.

Makhosini0408 - Something went seriously wrong before and during the polokwane elective conference. Thats where malema was born, from throwing his insults at Mbeki, which in turn allowed someone as undeserving as zuma to become president.

@Dzel--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I still believe that Malema will become president, at least within 10 years.

People need to wake up!!!Report Abuse
