Malema warned them against "criminals and thieves" in the NUM who "work in cahoots with management to steal their money".

EXPELLED ANCYL leader Julius Malema was escorted by thousands of chanting workers inside the Gold Fields mine near Carletonville, despite management's instruction to security officers not to allow "outsiders" in.

The miners are on an illegal strike after the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) leadership committed them to a funeral scheme, and management started deducting R69 from their salaries last month, allegedly without consulting workers.

Workers allege they were told the scheme would cost R39.

Malema warned them against "criminals and thieves" in the NUM who "work in cahoots with management to steal their money".

He told workers they were leaderless and should lead themselves.

"NUM leaders have turned against their members. NUM has been hijacked, and if you want to strike they tell you about Mangaung."

He said the ruling party was also unwilling to change workers' conditions because some party leaders had interests in mines and were greedy.

"Leaders of the ANC are shareholders in mines. The ANC national chairperson, Baleka Mbete, is a majority shareholder here," said Malema.

He said businessman Patrice Motsepe became a billionaire in 20 years because he did not share some of the profit with workers.

NUM national spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said it was untrue that workers were not consulted about the funeral scheme. "There is a collective agreement on the matter," he said.

Mine spokesman Sven Lunsche said the matter was between NUM and its members but that Gold Fields was trying to resolve it. - mabuzak@sowetan.co.za

So the miners do not need to be part of the funeral scheme why not tell the management to stop deducting monies for their salary's? Instead of having to fall pray to the greediest and power hungry small fat boy in the country. This boy does not know the mining sector at all he is stating interesting things like Baleka owning shares at the mine and stupid things like Patrice sharing his profit with the miners.

I say let him play with the miners once their are tired of him they will turn on him and I hope he will be ready for him!!!!

Those were not Goldfields' miners. They are miners who were laid off a year ago because of an illegal strike and they are insisting that they be re-employed. Once again the rent-a-mob is the ones doing the intimidation - not the miners

Yaa nnehh, Juju is so serious about his attacks on anyone affiliated with the ANC first it was Zuma, last week Cyril Ramaphosaan and now Motsepe, very interesting. He must just be careful coz he's creating a lot of enemies in high places, and if Zuma is retained in Mangaung, I see this guy future in politics being crashed to dust... He may be havi good points here n there but his approach is pure self-destruction. Nevertheless, I still don't like him for stealing millions with Mathale and bankrupting Limpopo through their corrupt tender practices...

I personnaly think this Malema is just jeolous , I`m also a share holder on several companies on JSE , but I worked hard for it , so any black diamond who is enjoy the rewards of inteligent business thinking , why is Malema against us Black diamonds , we never killed or enslaved any one , instead of toyi toying and going to rallies to listen to empty lies and promises by people like Malema , we were studying , and bench marking ourselves for good honey times to come ahead , so Malema did what I did and what I`m doing to my sons , please educate yourself and stop being greedy
