"On Sunday evening... the suspect had an argument with his 20-year-old girlfriend, Wioneda Stroebel, during which he allegedly hit her with a hammer on her head," said Captain Bernadine Steyn.

"Shortly after the incident, the couple went to sleep and when the suspect tried to wake her up yesterday [Monday] morning at approximately 3.15am, she already had passed away."

The man contacted Stroebel's parents and told them what happened. They called police, who arrested the man soon afterwards at the scene.

He was expected to appear in the Knysna Magistrate's Court today.

It should have been a horror , maybe this dude wanted to wake her up to make love so as to make up for the quarrel which had happened ealier during the nite , maybe the poor guy had taken some viagra , I can imagine his shock I think he didn`t meant to kill her , it might have been a friday the 13th horror story, now wanting to make love to a copse , I will scream until my eyes pops out .
