Top officials on the run
THREE senior Gauteng road and safety department officials are on the run for allegedly being involved in fraud and corruption.
They were due to be arrested at the department's offices yesterday morning, but were reportedly tipped off and fled.
Thapelo Moiloa, the department's anti-fraud and corruption unit spokesman, said: "Apparently, our targets were tipped off and they have run away. We will continue the search until we get them."
The officials were being investigated in connection with corruption and fraud at the Boekenhoutkloof Traffic Training College.
"We received a tip-off that applicants were being charged R5,000 to enrol for the traffic officer or examiner of driver's licence courses by these officials," Moiloa said.
Some of these students do not even qualify.
Of the five applicants in question, one has a criminal record, another has a fraudulent driver's licence while others do not work for the department."

If you corrupt, you will always be before or after Mangaung. Get those officials & lock them in jail, is it that difficult to get these people.

There is no point in "postponing" the inevitable, how far will they run? For how long? The long arm of the law will soon be upon these thieves.Report Abuse
