Cop assaulted, raped, robbed
WEST Rand police have launched a manhunt for three men who allegedly raped a female police officer this week.
The police said the officer had gone to visit a male friend in Rietvallei, near Kagiso, in the early hours of Monday.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said the policewoman's assailants arrived just as she was about to leave for her home.
"She heard a knock on the window of her car and when she turned around saw a man pointing a firearm at her.
"He ordered her out of the car. Two of his accomplices appeared and forced her into the back seat," Sibiya said.
The men allegedly stuffed a cloth into her mouth to stop her from screaming.
"They took her to Kagiso cemetery, where they assaulted her and then took turns raping her," he said.
Sibiya added that it appeared that the officer was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.
"It is unlikely that the suspects knew that she was a police officer. She was using her private car and was not in police uniform. So it is highly unlikely they knew her," he said.
After they were done raping the officer they tied her up and left with her car.
"It is not clear what happened next, but it seems the officer managed to untie herself and called for help.
No one has been arrested and the police are still looking for the men.
"We are investigating a case of rape, assault and hijacking," Sibiya said.
The latest attack on the officer follows the murder of Constable Ianah Rangani. She was shot dead in Hillbrow earlier this month. - selebim@sowetan.co.za

South Africa needs a DNA database of all who goes to prison, this will identify all rapists beyond reasonable doubtReport Abuse

I could'nt agree more with what you say skwamasamabele, but to do this, they need specialised team with work with DNA and ensuring that its not contaminated, one day when in SA I saw a police man at the crime scene handing stuff without using surgical gloves and was not wearing the protective police suit usually worn by crime investigators to prevent contamination of the DNA in the crime scene, is it any wonder we have such minimal convictionsReport Abuse
