Zuma penis on show again!

Aug 28, 2012 | The Star, Sapa | 432 comments

Artist Ayanda Mabulu's painting of President Jacob Zuma shows him wearing traditional attire and his private parts exposed

Entitled Umshini Wam, the painting is on display at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town, The Star reports.

It is part of an exhibition called 'Our Fathers'.

The exhibition also has other works of artist Brett Murray whose controversial painting, The Spear, resulted in protests against Johannesburg's Goodman Gallery in May.

Mabulu's painting is priced at R75,000.

"He is not naked; I did not paint him with an uncircumcised penis. This is a metaphor that shows he is not a boy; he is a man, an elder, a father, a leader," Mabulu was quoted as saying.

"In this painting I'm engaging my elder in the language of my mother tongue, the language that carries the culture of my people, the language he understands the most.

"Through this painting, I respectfully, as one of his children, ask my father why he is starving us. Why he is negating his duties to his children, the citizens of South Africa."

Why are some people obsessed with JZ's spear ? Why do artists think they should have more leeway than others in invading the privacy of others ? Please, can we go back to an era when common decency still meant something ?

LOL
Ayanda, you racist :)

I must admit, I do like Ayanda Mabulu's art. His technique is very elegant.

OK This is going to be interesting. The "white insulting black culture" warcry that was so loudly and mindlessly the last time doesn't apply here. Let's see what angle the blind idol-worshippers and party apparatchiks will try and push this time.

No amount of explaining from the artist that will stop Jackson Mthembu & the rest to denounce the artist. They will even accuse him of being unafrican.
watch the space.

as for the painting, for me the more they embarras Zuma the more people see that he is not fit to be our president for another term.
